WinUAE 3.x & AOS 4.1 FE for classics

Hi all,

Not sure that quasi simultaneous release of WinUAE with PPC support and AOS 4.1 FE (at a moderate price) is a pure coïncidence

Whatever, this is a great opportunity to enter the NG amiga world without having to invest in a VERY expensive HW. Plus it comes for Christmas, which is even greater

Before ordering a copy of AOS, I'd like to be sure it is working with latest WinUAE (or at least that having this working is one of Toni's goals) and that it's legal.

Thanks to anyone who could help answering these questions !

Let me also thank Toni as well as other people involved in making WinUAE a constantly living SW. You guys keep the Amiga alive !

Merry Christmas to everyone here !

Thanks

Cyril

Will be running it on a Peg2 and WinUAE. If it all goes to plan and runs really well on WinUAE may just go a head and sell the Peg2 and give Toni a donation :-)

$50 WinUAE can't even run the Pegasos II version at all.

For sure os41 fe for classics is required as winuae won't emulate next gen Amiga HW...

It has been confirmed to work with WinUAE 3: http://www.amigaimpact.org/forums/to...nuae-3/page/2/ (French).

Apparently you can now have 256mb Ram with Cyberstorm too.

It's not officially supported by Hyperion but legal: unlike MorpOS there's nothing preventing you from running OS 4.1 on an emulator.

Before rumors start: No, 128M is still max (and it is CSPPC hardware max, if you want more RAM, you need separate RAM expansion board, when/if OS4 supports it, like Z3 RAM or just some manually configured RAM located at some random address). Screenshot shows no other RAM boards.

126M probably is total available ram before any allocations, I guess 2M is used by CSPPC (maprom stuff/PPC exception vectors) and OS.

Hi,
I have not understood which Os 4.1 package should I purchase:

Amiga Classic + PPC Board ?

If I purchase this package, could I run Amiga OS 4.1 without PPC emulation too ?

AmigaOS 4.1 runs on PPC only, so you cannot run it without PPC emulation unless of course you have a real classic Amiga with a PPC accelerator on it.

WinUAE emulates Classic Amigas and with version 3.0 there's the addition of PPC emulation for them.

So you'll need a version of AmigaOS 4.1 for the classic with PPC board. ;-)

@Toni: my mistake. You were right. The guy who tested was too enthusiastic and thought 256mb were used.

@GuiseppeC: AmigaOS 4.1 requires a PPC processor. If you buy this package it won't run without ppc emulation.

@Toni:
Thanks a lot for your work with WinUAE! OS 4.1 FE is working perfectly for me! This is very impressive.
