Play Operation Wolf with joystick

When I play Operation Wolf I can only move with with the mouse and not witrh my Competition pro (USB). The firebutton works but how can I control the rest with it?
Operation Thunderbolt has the same problem. All other games I played the competion pro works fine.

That's normal, Operation Wolf & Operation Thunderbolt are mouse controlled games.

The real question well what I would want to know is.... back in the day I never saw a Amiga light gun, if such a thing exsists would it be possible to play these games with it?

Judging by the Speccy, C64 light guns I do hope if such a Amiga add on exsists its half decent

Unfortunately no, none of the original home computer versions of Operation Wolf supported light-guns the versions that did are re-releases that were included with the controller. Light-guns for the Amiga do exist but software support is very low (HOL lists only 9 titles), the only Amiga game I actually know of that supported them was P.O.W..

CFOU! made WHDLoad Patches with Light Gun support for some games, Operation Wolf is supported too.
Quote:
version 1.2 (08.01.06) done by CFou:
- CUSTOM1 Tooltype used for light gun support (Actionware and trojan's phasers)
CUSTOM1=1 : Normal phaser mode with many white screen flashes
(for real Trojan/Actionware's phasers)
CUSTOM1=2 : Special Sega 3050 light gun mode without white screen flashes
* Use RMB, LALT, RALT or SPACE BAR to launch a grenage
* Level 2 is dark so perhaps you'll must adjust monitor's brightness
* Don't aim at screen with your gun before the start of game, if not the
game don't begin
- Calibration screen added (Press 'C' key during tittle screens)
-> You must think to calibrate your gun before the first game
- Sega 3050 phaser adaptor documentation included
I saw a (Actionware? ) Light Gun on eBay today, but too expensive for me.

Maybe i get a Sega 3050 Phaser some day, which needs only a little adapter.

You can possibly change the input controls with WinUAE to make the joystick directions mouse-like to use it instead.

Done that but it is not working great. Playing with the mouse is the best option.

Take a optical mouse and gently approach your monitor's screen.
There, you got it - a light gun!

A joystick simply wouldn't be quick enough to move the crosshairs around the screen. Mouse is far quicker

@Galahad

Is that a hardware API thing? In programming in C, I found the joystick could only move the cursor so fast if I wanted it to move a pixel at a time (like in Dragons Breath, which I have read by you? is coded in C), nowhere near as fast as the mouse. It could just be my coding of course.

Calgor: It is simply because a joystick is digital and can only move at ONE rate of speed (which you don't want to be too fast, obviously). As you know, the rate of speed the mouse moves at is determined by how quickly it's pushed.
