Hi danko, sorry for late reply, I was away. I used this adapter in custom made desktop case, I may send you more pictures if you provide me your email.

I just noticed that you asked in past about USB connector as well. USB connector can be attached, I can provide picture or diagram how to do this.
Please remember that only PS2 compatible keyboard will work in USB connector.

No more pics are needed, but your opinion, if you put a USB connector and you connect a USB keyboard it works?

Yes it will work but as I stated earlier not with every one USB keyboard (won't work with USB HID protocol), but many older USB and some new one still support PS2 protocol. Actually I connected USB keyboard for tests via usb to ps2 adapter ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-co...9ZNHXRYTRFSAMX ) which is just "passed through". Good luck with your project.

Yes it will work (isn't better to use this cable https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3285...f-a483b854b146 , bit more cost maybe)

I have few spare PCB if you are interested in one. I can send you if you cover postage .

Did anyone ever try to program the MMKeyboard firmware into an actual 12F629?

I ask because whatever I try, the programmer complains about the size of the hex file. And when I toggle the corresponding ignore switch the programmer complains with "out of addresses".

However, I'd really like to get that going, because the 12F629 in SMD package is so small and fits so snuggly behind a PS/2 PCB mount port...

Not sure about a 12F629 but kipper2k has mmkeyboard hex and source asm files for the 16F628A which you can get in a SMD package so you could possibly work with that. See here:

Thank you for pointing this out.

However, I already had PCBs made for the 12F629 (SOIC8). The 16F628, unfortunately, has 18 pins.

I contacted Guido Mersmann directly and hope he will reply. In fact, the first PIC he used, the 16F84(A), is very similar to the 12F629 in terms of available RAM and Flash. But maybe he's even still got the source code for the 12F629 variant and is willing to share it...

Just to confirm it's working now with the original MMKeyboard 4.10 firmware.

The trick was to program the device with PicKit 2 via ICSP. Fortunately, in my adapter, I broke out the VPP/MCLR signal to an unused pin on the Mini-DIN Socket while usually pulling it to VCC via a resistor and a diode. (The diode prevents the high VPP voltage from feeding back to VCC/VDD during programming.)

Thus, it was just a matter of making a cable to connect to the programmer.

I'm not sure why only the ICSP method works. Programming the chip directly in my TL866 did not.

Edit: Attached a photo of the adapter just to show you how small the footprint is with the 12F629. :-)

Hi, do you have a schematic for the MMKeyboard adapter using the PIC12F629?

Thanks!

Recently I built an interface for the Amiga 2000 and i have a really strange thing happening, perhaps someone knows what the issue can be ?

If i turn on the A2000 , the first key i press is misinterpreted , if for example i press an 'a' , there wil be a '2' shown, then a lot of 2's automatically follow.
Did not test all keys, but the keys that i tested all give a different character on screen than the one i pressed.

If i warm reboot the amiga everything goes well , so perhaps it is a timing issue of some sort, i really have no clue how to change / compile the disassembled code so i hope someone has an idea.
