Help! I can’t get a Blu-ray movie playing on my CDTV
My Blu-ray player is upstairs in the bedroom. For the sake of convenance I wanted to watch a Blu-ray movie downstairs so plopped it into my CDTV. That device is already connected to the downstairs Tele. But I git nothing, nanda. To make sure the CD-ROM Drive is not busted I put in a Depeche Mode CD and it played fine. What am I doing wrong? I hope I don’t have to dig the CD32 out of the closet with FMV module because I don’t know where the power supply is.
Any help would be appricated, thanx. ? Last edited by Pyromania; 05 November 2018 at 05:59. Reason: Grammer |

Have you tried cleaning the laser? Also test with a 3D 4K Blu-ray disc.

Its only 1x cdrom in CDTV, bluray needs 2x 300k to get the 30mbit/sec required to play Frozen in 3D, try a CD32 or buy a 2x cd drive on ebay, any cheap one from china will do.

I'm thinking maybe you just have the disc upside down, did you try both ways?

As a seasoned spacecraft engineer used to getting recalcitrant hardware working in deep space, I'd suggest you apply some of our cutting edge recovery techniques and turn it off and on again.

I assume you used the CD caddy which is an easy mistake to make as you need to get a very rare blu-ray caddy.

It's pretty clear to me. After having you're CDTV introduced to the best band in the universe (DM), it doesn't accept anything else anymore...

To save anyone else a heart attack, if you're browsing eBay at work and get it in your head to search for a CDTV, whatever you do make sure you search for "Commodore CDTV". I've never closed a page so quickly.

Sorry to hear about that Pyromania.
That is a known problem. It has to do with a bad Rockwell Turbo Encabulator chip... I think it's almost impossible to source those tho... There's some good vids on youtube about the encabulator tho, if you want more information. |

Check the voltages from the power supply. As someone else suggested the machine may also need to be recapped.
Also make sure you are not using a bad crack of your movie playing software. |
