Amiga Squirrel not recognized...

Hi all,
I just bought an Amiga Squirrel SCSI adapter. I'd like to connect and install it on my A600 (KS 3.1, WB 3.0, HD 2 Gygas installed).
When using the provided disk, it seems to install everything but at there is a screen that asks me to choose between "scsi.device" and "squirrelscsi.device". I choose the second one (of course) and... none of my 2 Plextor SCSI CD-Rom are detected ? :-(
On the other hand, both CD-Roms are working fine on my A1200 which is equiped with a Blizzard 68030 processor + integrated SCSI...

A few questions now:
- Is there by any chance a software that would allow me to CLEARLY identify if it is the Squirrel that causes the problem or the PCMCIA port of my A600 ?
- If I try to install the Squirrel on my A1200, will there be any CONFLICT with the installed Blizzard SCSI one ???

Any help would be great ;-)

thank you all for support !

Patrick

do try it in your A1200 i dont think there would be any sort of conflict. I could be wrong but at least you cannot damage anything, I suppose...

Read the docs regarding installation. At some point, you have to type the number of the device like 0,1,2 etc. Make sure you haven't make any mistakes there. Also, make sure that all pins of the PCMCIA port are in place.

As above, make sure all devices have a unique ID, and that you have termination on your last device.

Thank you all !

I read all your answers... and finally installed the Squirrel on my A1200... and ... IT WORKS !!!
So... there is possibly a problem with my A600... This A600 was never opened... I opened it and found... nothing :-(
This Amiga is in mint condition...
Is there by any chance anything that needs to be activated to "open" the PCMCIA interface ???
If anyone has still any experience... he is WELCOME ;-)

Answer to MSC: My IDs are 2 and 5 (and it's working fine on my 1200)
Answer to Manicx: Installation of the Squirrel is FULLY automatic... no need to specify an ID or anything... you install it, you reboot and... it's working ! ;-)
Answer to Akira: It's ok on my A1200 :-)

You might want to check the pins on the PCMCIA connector on your A600 as they are male, and fairly fragile.

I would have said for you to try SCSI mounter. My CD drive is mounted right away, but my HD isn't. As you have it working on your 1200 though, you've probably got the same software installation for the Squirell on both systems.

Galaxy is right about the pins on the PCMCIA slot though, they are really dodgy and easy to bend. I'm male and fragile too - think it was the beer I had last night tho :-)

Thanks everybody :-)

I had a deeper look at my male pins :-)
I used some "contact spray" unsuccessfully :-(

The problem is you can't really have a look at the pins because (even when you open the Amiga), there is plastic around that don't let you have a look... :-(

I guess I need to sell mine and buy another one with a working PCMCIA...

Anyway, thank you all !!!

The Squirrel SCSI and CD-ROM drive that I have plugged into my A1200 comes with drivers from Hi-soft and one of the programs on the floppy disk is cd32em... I presume this will allow you to run some cd32 titles via basic emulation. Any idea how to get a c32 game to run. I only want to run the cd32-444 iso I have to see what its like.

I also have the squirrel and the hi-soft software(though not in use at the mo).

I can confirm the presence of CD32 emulation drivers, but it was very game dependant. I got diggers with the Cd drive and that worked, but Last Ninja and Premiere which i bought second hand, did not.
