Nice! I had an ATOnce+ many years ago. Worked well but I think the software let it down.

It was annoying you could not use the extra RAM when not running the emulator. Well, I found you could by starting the emulator and rebooting. The RAM magically appears in the memory map and can be added.

I never figured this out but I just read this. Ahh!

About Xilinx XC2018
it is a first generation FPGA produced by Xilinx without a permanent internal memory, in practice it must be programmed, in this case is the Amiga, every time is started.

I still have my Vortex ATonce Plus that I bought back in the early 90s for my 500.
And it is working too!

So is this an exact replica of the original board or have you done an enhanced design?

it is an exact copy. i added only plcc sockets for praticity due this project is born from an attempt to repair an original broken board.
now I'm working at xc2018 lca code reverse engineering, I'd like to improve its performance in msdos mode and maybe replace this old fpga with something more modern.

Thanks for explaining.

It would be great if the performance compared to the original hardware can be improved!

a special version of ATonce Plus designed for the GVP mini slot

Would this be possible?

Thanks, I hope you find one.

Would it be possible make it compatiable with KS3.1?

[EDIT]

Think that you would not need a broken one, just a signal map of The GVP's HD8 mini slot and dimensions of card?

This card is identical to the ATonece Plus card http://www.bigbookofamigahardware.co...ct.aspx?id=347 - just another form factor - the card and software was originally designed and produced by Vortex then used by GVP, hence software for the ATonce Plus can also be used for the GVP card.

The GVP HD8 mini slot is just a signal variation of the Amiga 86-pin edge connector for the most part, and the signals there are effectively the same as the 68000 socket as far as this thing goes.

from my tests, in GVP board the xc2018 configuration bit stream is different and incompatible with atonce configuration. peraphs is the same logic but pad configuration is different. and probably even eqaution in GALs logic, in different package, is changed.
so you must have at least the exact schematic of the pcb to be able to solve this.
regarding the 3.x compatibility, maybe it will be possible when and if I succeed in the reverse of the lca logic configuration

Vortex made a number of PC hardware emulators. It's good to see those aren't abandoned entirely with some clones being developed as we speak. The name of the company made me wonder though... what about slightly more modern chips? Like Vortex86? I know, those aren't really pin compatible with 286/386 but they do offer ISA interface which should've been sufficient to make fairly simple interface to Amiga hardware considering how ISA cards were interfaced to Zorro II/III slots (and those being modified 68k CPU interface in the first place).

Wow, that's looks massive. How does it work together? I mean how you switch between boards and emulators?

it's simple... just launch its apps. Kcs start in mode exclusive, with dueottosei (atonce plus) it is possible to use amiga os, in this case wb 1.3, at the same time.
when I'm done maybe I'll prepare a little video on youtube and show it to you

Video looks pretty impressive!
How do you run the cf image in your A500?
Do you use an A590 or similar controller in the side expansion?

I used an AlfaPower Plus IDE controller with 256Mb CF and IDE - CF adapter. (http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/alfapowerplus)

Hi,
I built this development board with de0-nano, to explore the possibility of replacing the old fpga with something newer and possibly integrating all the glue logic.

Unfortunately due to chip shortage I'm still waiting for a couple of level shifters which sadly won't arrive at the distributor until September.
Does anyone have a pair (number 2) of TI SN74CBTD16211DGGR to sell me?

Thanks
Nicola
