Arrow Leaderboard August 2020 Voting

Welcome to the vote for the games we will be playing in August 2020.

Time marches on and we are already at the point of voting for our third pair of games. The list of previously played is starting to look like we have good taste. Bravo everyone. Now let's try and keep it up. Remember - You can vote for any type of Amiga game you like. We will play it in whatever way makes most sense.

If there's something you were already thinking about playing, this is a good way to invite others along for the ride.

This vote ends at 23:59 (UK Time) on Monday 20th July 2020.

How to vote:
  • Vote for up to 5 games. In any order.
  • Each vote for a game gives it 10 points.
  • The two games with the most points will be played next month.

The previous 40 games played cannot be voted for:

Jul 2020: World Class Leader Board
Jul 2020: Gods
Jun 2020: Paperboy
Jun 2020: Myth: History in the Making

Bumpity Bump.

Thanks for votes everyone. Good choices coming through

Summer is having its usual effect on the forums. It's quiet but there's plenty more time with these long rounds to get involved.

A few more days left to influence the outcome of the vote or promote another game for the future.

Hooooo

Time for the results:

Harlequin took the win. Similar to last month there was a large tie for second. As per the rules, manossg was the first person to put three games into that tie and got to choose the winner from those.

30 Harlequin
20 Zerosphere

20 Bomb Jack Beer Edition
20 Apprentice
20 Cannon Fodder
20 Ork
20 Rodland

Harlequin:
Looks like it has no score. We can play it simply to beat the game. I've no experience with Harlequin and think it might be new to quite a few people, so should be an interesting one to check out.

Zerosphere:
It's got a score table and the levels have a time limit which should mean even if there are re-spawns it doesn't really matter. We can play for score.

If anyone knows any potential issues with that, let us know.

I've had a closer look at the games.

Harlequin does have a score of sorts. It's a percentage of completion. It seems to show up between levels and when you die. So we can play for score. Also the credits/continues work like lives so we'll definitely use them.

edit: I don't seem to be able to finding a working adf disk 1 for harlequin. It only has the intro on it and you can boot from disk 2 instead. But if anyone knows what's wrong with that it would be nice to sort out.

Zerosphere has two versions. A commercial one and a free one. The commercial one has more content so we need to only play one version to compare scores. Of course that will be the free version. However, when playing to beat the game you can use either.

Harlequin also has a save system and the game is supposed to be huge, so I think it would be a good idea to be allowed to use that in the Leaderboard, since it is the way it is supposed to be played.

The 1st disk of Harlequin is just a pointless title screen, completely useless. I got mine from old games finder. But I always boot from the 2nd one.

I would be okay with that if others are. I think it would probably be more fun to try and get through as much of the game as possible. It's scored on percentage anyway. And the save system is very good.

John4p has been voting for this for a while but hasn't been around recently. Would be interested in his preference if he sees this. You out there?

Currently trying to beat Gods. Lost to the final boss last night which was quite an unpleasant experience.

If Harlequin is so huge then I'd say let's allow normal saves (for the legit run).

We could do the same with Mr Nutz should it get voted some day.

^ That must be a French saying that doesn't translate well. What does it mean?

I know it's a bad idea to translate literally, but sometimes it works

After a check on "expressio.fr", seems that : "to not be out of the woods" is the correct UK expression

And kudos for finishing the game
