Catch 22 AKA chicken and egg problem
Just got an A500 from e-bay - nothing but the main unit, but what can you expect for $15?
No power supply? No problem - connected a generic switching supply and it works. Made a PIC based PS/2 mouse adapter too. Hardware I can deal with. Now the big obstacle is no Workbench (or any other) floppy. A net search revealed a number of ways to transfer images from a PC via a null modem, but every one requires at least the Workbench. Given that Amiga can read PC 720K formated floppies, is it at all possible to make a bootable floppy on a PC and somehow bootstrap an image transfer? Or maybe someone can just sell me a copy of the Workbench? |

This realy is a catch 22 when your Amiga comes with no Workbench or any other disks.

@alexfreed
Unfortunately no, the ability to read 720K formatted disks is from a setup within Workbench not the ROMS =( at the junction you have now, it would be best to obtain a set of workbench disks for your machine. infact I would go as far to say you might as well get workbench 3.1 with 3.1 ROM, have a look on ebay theres usually sets available for around the $30 mark. The other (2) ways - hook up with a friend whom has said workbench disks and would let you use them buy a Catweasel Mk4 for your PC so you can write Amiga Floppy Disks. |
