I have the Mac version of "Quarterstaff" (the only platform it was published on, I think). I wonder if it's possible to do the "Border Zone" treatment on it so that we can have an Amiga version of it, as well. Maybe find a 16-bit version of "Sorcerian", as well?

BTW, nice list!

Do hacks count as well? -> Wings Of Fury 2

Edit: Not a hack but an unfinished game: Alchemy by Psygnosis

I don't believe he's looking for hacks. That should be a separate list. What is the source on Alchemy (magazine, etc.)

TG: yes, maybe we should try to get Quarterstaff and Sorcerian working.

I wonder if we should still add games which run under interpreters to our main HOL database? We'd have to include Border Zone, Ultima 7, some Lucasarts games and a whole host of text adventures e.g. Level 9's Adrian Mole series, Emerald Isle, Eric The Viking, The Archers, because they probably run under interpreters. Maybe this list is a better place for them...

Kodoichi & TG: I think Kodoichi is right about hacks, as this is the list which should clear up confusion about games which weren't released - and hacks definitely confuse!

@Twistin' Ghost

Like you, I also have the Mac Version of Quarterstaff, and I'm positive that you're right that it was only ever released for the Mac. I was an Infocom junkie, and though I didn't have a Mac, I bought it to play on the Amiga using the A-Max emulator, though that lacked the color graphics. Nowadays, I use the Basilisk II emulator running on the PC to run it, after finding that it was available for download from Home of the Underdogs. I think the odds of being able to get this to run on the Amiga are probably fairly slim though (except via emulation) since as I recall, this was developed outside of Infocom proper exclusively for the Mac.

By the way, out of curiousity, what was done to get Border Zone to be playable on the Amiga? The only thing I was aware of that would have been a problem was that it needed a version of the interpreter that supported timed inputs, which I believe the Amiga release of Frotz does. Other than that, I think it's just your basic z-code file.

As for Sorcerian, that's a new one on me. I've heard of Sorcerer, obviously but never this one, or at least not as an Infocom title. The name sounds vaguely familiar, but I was thinking it was something completely different.

Border Zone is playable through Frotz, just the same as any other standard Infocom game.

The problem is that, because it was not released on the Amiga, and is playable through an Interpreter, ADF versions of it have circulated (consisting of an interpreter and the PC data files). This causes lots of confusion, obviously!

Another problem for us, when compiling the database, is that games such as this and running only on interpreters are not original Amiga releases, but neither are they emulated. So, to clear up confusion, we have to include them in an Amiga database, if only to say that they definitely weren't original releases and clear up the confusion!

Well, it actually serves two purposes. The one you describe for sure. But also it lets the user know that this game can indeed be played on an Amiga. This may seem unimportant in this day and age when everybody practically has PC's, but some of us (me, for example) do not...WILL not play PC games. Also, I am leaving the PC platform very soon, so it's useful to know that as an Amiga user, this game is at my disposal to play on my platform. I suppose this also applies to AGI and SCUMM games, as well.

Of course this doesn't count with emulated games (ie, running on an Amiga via Mac emulation) because it doesn't meet BOTH criteria.

@Chuckles
You are right, Sorcerian is not an Infocom game, but Sierra On-Line.

Hey

I remember seeing a platform game that had a kind of invisible hero, you could only see his gloves, shoes and hat. I think the name was "Magic Castle", and I never saw this one.

Also, another platform game called "Boo", where you controlled a little cute ghost.

I believe I also saw an ad for Micro Machines 2 for Amiga.

CD32 version of Syndicate is another one that cames to mind...

Did Magic Carpet ever got an ad in an amiga magazine?

Shatterhand - any more info about Magic Castle and Boo?

Was Syndicate CD32 definitely not released?

I've added some new ones (Creation, Bob, Higher Functions, Magic Carpet, Inferno CD32, Dracula CD32)...

@ Cody:

Maybe someone had already asked this, but...

When do you think to open the new HOL section with the unreleased games?
And... if you need some screenshots, ask what you want, I have many of these!

Hey, blast from the past!

Thanks for reminding me about this thread Wolf. We now have the functionality in HOL to add these games.

Essentially, they are added as normal games, but clearly marked as Unreleased. They have no DBS screens, but we can add screenshots in the alt screen section.

Pre-release names for games released under another name can be added to the existing entries.

I will go through this list and add the information to HOL.

OK, because there are plenty of missing titles...
I have many screenshots of unreleased games (the only missing thing is the time to scan all! )

Can you post a "almost-definitive" list (even in The Zone) of these missing titles (no matter pre-release titles), and your "screenshot needing" for certain games, then I'll watch for other missing titles not is your list (along with the screenshot, of course!)

Thanks to you!
It's a pleasure to help our "little" amiga community, and one of my deepest wishes is to see a "repository" of almost all that games that weren't... (see my old post!)
I have few time, but I'll do my best! I hope everyone can contribute with anything missing...

Let's do the FIRST , COMPLETE and BIGGEST list of Amiga games database all over the world!

Then, someone had to made something for the PD games...
