You can't restore the original firmware unfortunately if it had HxC. But Flash Floppy is excellent and free alternative.

Make a USB A to USB A cable (very easy and use existing spare usb cables or buy pre-made one from eBay). You can flash it straight from PC. Check the website below:

http://www.binarydevotion.com/?p=228

The Gotek drives have a boot loader. So it is difficult to brick it fully from what I gather.

Hope this helps

Header Pins added and re-flashed to the newest version of Flash floppy and because the Pins have been added you will also be able to use the method detailed in Lesta’s comment above with a USB A to A cable. If you have an update failure again.

So just need return postage payment and it will be on its way back to Nathanm1991.

Are you sure it was HxC? That's commercial and it wouldn't "come in a CD". Even if the seller sold it as HxC it could have been FlashFloppy.

For all your intents and purposes HxC and FlashFloppy work the same way.

It's not your fault. Shitty sellers keep publicizing their sales as HxC even when they are not. So you could have gotten one of those.

If it ever did say H-C on boot on the 3 digit LED thenn I guess yeah you had HxC, but F-F is when it has FlashFloppy in it.
If you DID have HxC in it, which I doubt, you can reflash to HxC too, using any of the methods described before. Also the person who has your Gotek should be able to reflash HxC without the need to have the bootloader.

I have a feeling that maybe you tried to update with HxC when you actually had FlashFloppy and that wouldn't work and is the whole reason why we're here .

then it was Definitely Flash Floppy Originally also Because both of my Drives said F-F on initial Setup lol :-)

Stupid Seller put a HxC Update on the Disc and I assumed it was right being on the Disk :-P

Oh well Noobs error and like you say that's why this Community is here and Still thriving today :-)

Thanks to all

Nah as I said NOT your error at all, it's unscrupulous sellers that sell stuff based on fake advertisement. Should all be reported to eBay but they don't care much.

At least it's not like you got a stinker, FlashFloppy IS amazing, but it just sucks because the update provided by the seller bricked the machine. You should have tried to get your money back. I can't believe the seller provided the wrong firmware file, how stupid is that??

Anyway glad you have it working now, enjoy your new machine!

Thank you Very Much For all of your help, Got the 1200 Coming tomorrow Followed by a CF Adapter as I Bought a Package Deal of all the WorkBenches Via Download as I want to install WB 3.1 to HDD. I Learnt the Hard way that it is Far Cheaper to just Buy a 1200 Outright to mod rather than a 500 as Widely more Available Bits. I do love my A500 though shes had the Full treatment since I have got her But I think maybe I might wait a Few years Before I go all out with Accelerator Cards etc as More People I have Noticed are Building More and More for the Old Girl :-) Much Respect to Everybody Keeping it Alive

Many Thanks
