Question Completing a level in Venus the Flytrap

I am having trouble finishing level 5 of the Transplant world (Level-password: NOCTOID). This icy world with its blue background is driving me crazy.
At one point in this level you find a very huge gap which is impossible to pass unless you can fly. How can I pass this gap? I haven't found secret power-ups or invisible platforms to pass the gap. Can anyone help or has anyone finished the game?

Oops

1. Wrong password. The password has got a spelling mistake. It's actually NOCTUID.

2. Wrong forum

yeah I've played this game quite far (but not yet till the end anyways). I'll take a look...

What forum should this be in, andreas? Isn't it a game problem? Or do we need a board about Gameplay hints, or such stuff?

Red face Oops

I thought I had posted this message in the Games>Problems thread. My apologies.
The version of Venus the Flytrap I own is cracked by Thyrone and has cheats for infinite lives, time, credits and weapons. All level codes are also mentioned in this crack and I still haven't managed to finish this game. Aargh!

Cool Venus the Flytrap (re)visited...

Hi Tim, hi everybody,

first of all I feel a need to correct false info from various cheat sites.
The following cheats can be used:

JUPITER - infinite time.
PLUTO - infinite ammunition.
MARS - access to all weapons
SATURN - ??? (can anyone help here?)
MERCURY - constant flying ability.

But how can I ACTIVATE them?
Well I had a bloody hard time to figure out HOW to activate them. All those cheat sites say, "type them in during gameplay".
HUH??? Either no one of those guys ever tried to do this, or they simply can't think logically. 'P' is used to pause the game, this would mean, if I typed 'PLUTO', only 'LUTO' would be recognized because of the 'P' used elsewhere.
No, actually it's different: you must enter them using your joystick after you've pressed SPACE in order to enter a level code. Now enter the cheat codes, keeping in mind that you can COMBINE them by entering a couple of them one after another!
At last, enter the level code to start the desired level.
That's supposed to work now!

Where are you stuck?

Hi Tim again,

now let's find out WHERE you are stuck.
Is it the spot the screenshot below shows?
In this case, the "solution" is plain simple.
Shoot the creature there and you will get a flying rocket which will give you the power to fly over the gap.
But BE FAST! If you manage to let it "dissolve" before you can pick it up, you'll certainly be not amused afterwards!

Happy Andreas, that might be the solution!

Hi Andreas,
I have not checked this thread the past few days but I think you have provided the right solution

As I already stated in our 'private' message at one point in in the NOCTUID world level 5 there is a part (about 1.5 screens wide) which does not have ANY platform on it. You can only access this 'gap' by flying over it. -I really did not know how to let Venus fly.
The picture you have provided to this thread is the exact spot I could not pass. Shooting the baddy and use the rocket might be the solution as you explained. Many, many thanks! At last this problem might be solved after all those years.
Now, have you seen the end credits of this game?

yep. Not that spectacular, though...
There are better end-game sequences I've seen on the Amiga

Well ... in any case, report me if it worked!
