First paragraph

Actually French games are often weird, but they're also often creative and arguably great games.

Extase I discovered thanks to this thread and it's really really good (now that I got the point after a few games )

"Weird" also applies to one of my favorites 'Interphase'
The digital mind of a trapped girl, and you have to puzzle her way through a strange map and 3D world full of frogs on bicycles and flying paperplanes..
How strange is that? Took me weeks to figure out how it worked.

The weirdest Amiga game for me has to be - Legend of djel. The game play is soo weird. The game sounds are weird, animations are weird and even the intro music turns one weird just listing to it!

Only managed to get part way through. A french game originaly.

Check it out - http://hol.abime.net/859

Has anyone finished this game?

Slightly OT but I can't understand why people upload youtube videos without turbo loading enabled. A 2 minute youtube clip consists of about 90 seconds of loading screens... WTF?

My Amiga 500 had not turbo loading. I know it's not 199x but I like to think it is. Also I have some fun watching loading screens, sometimes with music.

Turbo loading does not always work correctly. In fact, I had discs get corrupted because of it.

But on Youtube, it's clearly a recorded WinUAE emulation, and all you see is the same boring picture for about 45 seconds with the drive clicking noise. Completely pointless when you can just set the slider to 800% or turbo mode and eliminate all that crap!

What disks get corrupted?!?

Even in WinUAE, there are games that suddenly get reading errors and timing issues when floppy speed is set too high.
There are numerous games that work well with Turbo or 800%, some don't like speeds above 400% and there are a few that even only work when speed is set to 100%.

Occasionally, when games try to write with higher floppy speed they seem to write gibberish or something and sometimes corrupt disks.

So if you have problems with running a game, try fiddling with floppy speed.

Even better solution: Stop fiddling with drive emulation speed and use End + Pause (warp mode) for the loading parts Faster and it won't 'break' the games

The Swedish Amiga-games "Knäpp Jörgen i Köket" and "Spräng Ove i Bastun" is pretty wierd. It is option-based textadventures with lots of strange humour.

The Turkish Amiga frp game "İstanbul Efsaneleri - Lale Savaşçıları" is a really weird game, "if you know Turkish, and understand Turkish ~ Istanbul culture and politics".

They released the game for DOS PC on CD format a couple of years after the Amiga version.

The races you can select for your characters are:
human (non mutated), teacher, student, government employee, lout, bitch, jerk, siliconian (they are a cross between a programmer, a nerd and a rocker :P )

For example when a teacher is using a ruler as a weapon, he gets a bonus. A student have to use a T-ruler to counter the ruler. He gets a bonus from that.

If a Siliconian is wearing a Megadeth TShirt as an armor, he gets bonus to his armour class (because the manual says that a Siliconion becomes extra careful not to spoil his Megadeth T-shirt)

Best weapon against attacking dogs are slippers thrown at them...

Instead of making magic, the characters "swear" at each other and they need palate points instead of mana which can be refreshed by drinking. Otherwise the tongue becomes glued to the palate and your character can not swear.

When a character eats peppers, his endurance increases.
When he drink beer, his courage increases and your party can enter dark alleys.
When he chews barleycorn gums, his speed increases (because horses eat barleycorn)

If you want to resurrect a dead party member, you have to bring him to a certain prostitute. (she has advertisements in the game saying "she would even resurrect the dead if need be". It was a surprise when she actually resurrected a dead party member for me :P I had no idea they were that serious.

During the first parts of the game, you can not cross the bridge to the other side of Istanbul because there's a traffic jam.

In the game you fight the inflation monster (a dragon), the police attacking students and mostly religious fanatics.

Sorry, I know this is slightly off-topic and all but... WTF?!

I didn't know anything about this before now... why won't it break the games when the turbo floppy drive emulation speed sometimes does? (In terms a layman can understand)?

As I understand it not everything likes the drive turbo mode. It can cause read issues with the disk and many times software will simply either crash or spit out an error.
