What was those programs called?

Not sure this is placed in the right topic, but since it is just a faint memory of mine it should be in "memories"

Not sure if it was on C64 or Amiga. But it was kind of a program where you wrote some text which you saved to disk and either sent to a friend for tell him something in a cool way, or used as a intro on a compilation etc.

When your friend read the text, the letters came one by one (or by the instructions set by the sender)

The program let you chose how your messages should be displayed. You could turn up speed, change colurs, change music, move the cursor etc, etc.
In one point of time i remember there was a lot (more than 3 ) programs which were used.

Kind of advanced SMS'ing but long before it's time.

Anyone remember this? c64? Or Amiga?

I remember something like this too, the thing resides in the bootblock of a floppy and displays a scrolling message with colourful bars in the background. But i don't recall any music you could put there.

I remember these on the C64. I don't recall any on the Amiga. I'll see if I can find any.

Those were notemakers/lettermakers..

There are many of them... too many to mention

Many groups made their own programs to write notes to demos/cracks/swapdisks you name it...

Some contained the groups logo and music and some other stuff.. some only showed plain text messages on the screen..

Here's a link to a few made for c64:

Messagewriter and Futurewriter on the Amiga are the sort of programs you are talking about, maybe?

Do you know where to get those, can't find them googling. I really can't remember using any of those Notemakers on the Amiga but would have been fun to try them out.

Is there any programs for the PC? Me and my mates found communicating with those kind of entertaining, but we were maybe the only ones

I've been rescuing a lot of my old floppies from 10-15 years ago as ADF files, and I'm pretty sure I saw one if not both of these in my collection. I've just ordered a networking kit for my amiga so as soon as I get them onto the PC I will put them in the Zone for you.

There was always a lettermaker on MAGIC DISK and GAME ON on the C64 with every single issue. Mostly from DIGITAL MAGIC or GERMAN DESIGN GROUP.

If you are interested you could grab the MD and GO issues here:

there was one letter writer that I used that was really cool for amiga, with nice fonts and lots of effects. Very colorful using copper etc... Which is the best letter writer out there for amiga?
And where do we get it from?
