You probably have not installed applications on your system that uses codecs (Editor, Player etc..), try to install LAME MP3 Encoder Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 31 January 2019 at 12:22. |

It should be installed in C:\Windows\System32, but I think you should install the package like this. https://www.freewarefiles.com/WinLAM...ram_18240.html |

I copied the file into System32, but nothing changed
I will not install the package, i don't like to put stuff in my sytem, unless it is essential And this is not essential At the moment i use an intermediate tool to convert from .WAV to .MP3 It works anyway, so it's enough for me Thanks again for the help AMIGASYSTEM |

You are right on the fact that .WAV files are too big
But the real question is: are we sure .MP3 converted file sounds the same as the original .WAV ? |

I'm pedantic like person
I don't like loss of quality I don't trust if people who invented MP3 encoding tell me that i 'm not able to hear the difference How can i be sure of that ? |

You convert the previous file (but keep a copy of it) to MP3. You randomly (shuffle) listen to both tracks. If you can tell a difference of quality, they were wrong. If you can't tell the difference, they were right. |

This type of compression is called Lossy and are part of it (MP3, AAC, WMA and Ogg Vorbis etc..) or with small losses of quality that you can never verify with your ears but only with instrumentation. There are also other compression codecs such as WAV, AIFF called Lossless such as FLACC, ALAC and APE that remain unchanged in quality even after the compession (the files are still of a certain size). However if you have to record the audio of the games on WinUAE the mp3 is more than fine --- Italiano --- Allora per farti u'nidea la qualità dipende dalla Velocità In Bit (Bit-Rate), con il 320 Kbit/s consigliato da Damiano si perde veramente poco, anche 256, fino a scendere a 192 Bit-Rate la qualità resta elevata, questi valori vengono utilizzati anche commercialmente per distribuire le canzoni in digitale sul Web. So go quiet with MP3 without flooding your Hardisk
I use the right Codec according to my needs and all the Audio or Video programs I use on Windows can save in the desired format. Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 31 January 2019 at 12:22. |

No compression : WAV (it's not a format, it's a container, usually containing LPCM format). Pedantic person should appreciate the difference (but it's not the image you give of yourself through your posts)
Compression with NO loss of quality : FLAC or TTA (others exists) Quote:
Personal choice for music compression : FLAC & OGG (OGG beats hands up MP3 - my hears say that ). I keep MP3 only for players that doesn't accept the two previous ones. |

Okay chip, you were the one who asked if it was possible to record to MP3
Strange that your Player does not accept WAV, all or almost all Players like WinAMP, AIMP3, XMPlay and Quintessential do, the latter I think is the only one that still allows you to recover artist name, song title etc. . (Auto-Tag) with different modes (on Wave you can't save). Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 17 January 2019 at 19:00. |

That one recognizes only MP3 Well, i know, i wanted record to MP3 in a direct way, but i don't want install anything No idea what installation programs can do to my system Since my request IS NOT essential ( i can always do a two steps process ) i renounced to the task But, hey, really thanks for all your time |
