Michael Rupp developer of "SonosController" kindly asks if any AROS users owning "SonosController" could test the operation.

Michael Rupp provides his Email for any comments on the operation of "SonosController"

The "SonosController" Software for AROS x86 is not yet officially distributed , I have a betatester copy which I could attach here, or wait for AROS One v2.4 where it will be installed. Soon you will also find it on Archive AROS.

AROS One 2.4 is now available for Download, in this release there have been a lot of changes mainly on the Core now compiled with the C library, this will not change anything for users but it is very important for developers because it facilitates and simplifies porting and compiling software.

AROS One 2.4 has to be installed from scratch because it is no longer compatible with the old Cores and the old software included in the large Contrib archive. Nothing is lost because the same software was included in the new Contrib compiled with the C Library, eventually for those who have their own configurations they could make a backup and manually insert them into the new system.

This is the most Stable version of AROS x86 ever released, so many fixes are related to Wanderer and Hardware compatibility, also the hardware compatibility catalog has been reformulated, HERE you can browse it.

Thanks to all the developers and all those who contribute financial support.

Nice and congratulations to "chrisripp", this is one of his Screenshot of AROS One 2.4 in Bootstrap on Linux.

Thanks also to everyone who downloaded and tested the new AROS One 2.4, which was a lot, yesterday Google did not allow downloading because there was a lot of traffic, those who could not download yesterday can do so today.

A great Software on AROS but also on other Amigose platforms is "RNOTunes", a GUI I would say catchy, among other things gra part of the Skins "Buttons and ssfones were created by me", these are the features:

- Supports AC3, MP3, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, AAC, AIFF, WAV, ASF, Protracker, DigiBooster, SID, AHX, FastTracker II, ScreamTracker, OctaMED, The Player, NoisePacker, ProRunner, Oktalyzer, Impulse Tracker, Ultra Tracker, Ice Tracker, Liquid Tracker, 8SVX, SID, Quadra Composer and and many other formats
- Configurable GUI with a cover image display
- Loads embedded cover images and other metadata from MP3, FLAC, and Ogg - Vorbis files
- Built-in Last.fm scrobbler
- Lyrics display
- Tune properties editor which saves changes to a local database
- Internal playlists
- Import and export playlists from Jukebox, AMPlifier, etc
- Automatic/manual saving of the last session
- All time playcount saving
- Tune rating option
- Extensive file selection functionality
- File delete option
- ARexx, command line, and tooltypes support

New features on Network Prefs, now there is a "Tethering" Tab that allows AROS One to connect to the Internet via your Mobile Phone.

"USB Tethering", is a ption available on all cell phones, connecting to the cell phone network is very easy, just connect a USB cable between PC (AROS) and Mobile Phone and enable USB Tethering.

No identification is required, no need to set the name of your Network, no user name or password is required.

AROS One by default is already preset for "USB Tethering" connection, if you have any questions please ask !

Irritating bug of the month - March 2024:

There is one day left for voting, I voted to enable the Workbench to delete files or folders simply by using the Delete key.

This feature would make work much faster, I have been using this very convenient feature on AfA One for years, even if I do it through third party software.

James Mattson has created new videos showing some of the many Applications installed on on AROS One 2.4.

note the similarity to Amiga OS, the structure is the same, same system folders, same libraries, same devices, virtually all the Core is similar to that of Amiga OS 3.1.

I see there is little interest in my Distribution, I will probably do fewer reviews here for the future!

Hi AMIGASYSTEM. I read and look forward to your updates as it is part of my regular Amiga information intake. Kudos to all your hard work.

Unfortunately I donโ€™t run this or any other Amiga alternate OS/distro at this moment due to time constraints. I still dabble in 3.1 when I can after keeping up with News and Amiga scene sub-forums.

I totally understand when lack of feedback raises the question if we should take a step back. Though I love forums like this one, the lack of modern emoji reactions make writing a response post the only way of conveying feedback to the contributor. Posting may seem overkill when a simple thumbs up would do.

Whatever you decide to do moving forward, you have my heartfelt support.

I'll definitely be giving this a go when I get home from my vacation, and set it up on a Linux system somewhere. Or, I may have a laptop sitting around that would run it bare metal...

Thank you, I will continue to give news even if less frequently.

There is a nice news coming: Prototype of AROS ABIv0 emulator for 64-bit AROS:

1) 32-bit test binary (of Tools/Calculator) is loaded and relocated under 64-bit AROS
2) 32-bit emulation mode is enabled in CPU and several lines of 32-bit code has been executed
3) Kernel of 64-bit Linux-hosted AROS has been modified to allow correctly task-switching between processes running 32-bit and 64-bit code

I found a solution to start Dopus4 via Early Startup Control from HD, DVD, ISO.

Now you will no longer have to run a script but run the Dopu4 binary directly.

Basically once you get to the Grub, via Grub/BootMenu you will be able to access on "Early Startup Control", then choose the "Boot With No Startup-sequence" tab, and from the command prompt just type Dopus4 and send, I see Video and Screenshot !

Irritating bug of the month April 2024:

If you are interested, it is possible to vote for the Bug to be fixed among those in the list that you will find HERE

I voted #116, enable from the Workbench to delete files and folders with the "Delete" key, on Dopus4 I have already confifed this very important function to speed up the deletion of one or more files/folders without using the Mouse.

Thank you to those who will give their vote !

The Integrated Emulator has reached a point where it can already properly run a 32Bit AROS Application on a 64Bit AROS system.

HERE รจ available the first video showing how the native AROS 32Bit Calculator App is executed by 64Bit AROS.

I also defined a checklist of tests needed to be completed before a final decision on emulator can be made:

1) Test a recent program written in C using new C library (Calculator) [DONE]
2) Test an old, 3rd party program written in C using old C library (ZuneARC) [IN PROGRESS]
3) Test program written in Hollywood
4) Test program written in Pascal
5) Test emulator under AxRuntime and confirm ABIv0 programs can be run directly on Linux/Windows

Emulator sources are available HERE

If you are a developer and you would be interested in contributing to emulator in future, please send e-mail to deadwood or a PM on HERE forum ArosWorld

Tested Myst III Exile on new ResidualVM and it works well in both Window and FullScreen, I tested it in Software Mode, VMs do not support native Video Card, but even in Software Mode it is playable, no particular slowdown !

For those who are inexperienced, and would like to install games on ResidualVM in their own language (if available), I recommend first installing the Game on PC/MAC and then bringing the game folder to ResidualVM.

In my case on ResidualVM I installed MYST 3 in English/Italian, see screenshot !
