My A2000 so far.

OK, the thread started in hardware problems, now it's time for some pr0n (can someone please tie Zetr0 down to the chair?).

In original state, the machine was terrible: no Agnus, no working floppy, passive terminator on the HD, no keyboard, no mouse, yellowed as hell, busted PSU.

After a week I achieve:

- Working mobo;
- New SCSI cable with connectors for 6 devices with one active terminator in one end and an active pass trough terminator(!) attached to the (for the moment) original 52Mb HD, plus a NEC SCSI CD-ROM;
- Two hacked new floppy units;
- A little fix for hole of the fascia around the floppy units. (specially for Gklinger)

[EDIT]: Oops! Was Fingerz! Not Gklinger! My bad memory acting again!

To dig:

- ROM version 7 (TC is providing one for me, thanks TC!) to use some cheerful HD's (over 1Gb). A question: I've found a very cheap 1080Mb SCSI unit. Do it works with ROM6.6?

- 4 1Mb 30-pin SIMM for the Meta4 (maybe I sell it);

- A GVP Impact 3001 with 4Mb (nibble RAM) and without IDE (thanks God, it doesn't work), very cheap;

- 3.1 ROM (Cozeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!);

- Maybe a GVP 28/24 with 2Mb for playing my original Quake CD!

OK, enough talk, let's see some pr0n!

BTW, some doubts:
- For some strange reason, the IDEFIX program is not recognizing my old registration... There is differences among controllers (IDEfix-express/SCSI controllers)?

- Where is the jumper/solder pad to change the machine from NTSC to PAL?

Quake ? What kind of processor you have in that miggy ? AFAIK quake doesn't run well even on 060, short of a voodoo or something ... GVP spectrum won't help much either ... (maybe you wanted to mean doom ?)

I will.

This night I'll take some nudity photos for people, but there is not much to see inside (yet).
----------------------------

Promise is promise!

You see the new cable, the HD on the back of the card (due clearance problems on original location - no space for the pass-trough active terminator!), the two new floppies, the Meta4 (BBoAH don't have a picture of it!!!), NEC CD-ROM, voltage selector (I live in a country with 127 and 220V!), active terminator on the end of the cable, battery area (no batt replacement yet).

Close future:
- GVP Impact A3001 with 4Mb nibble RAM;
- New coin battery cell with germanium diode;
- GVP Spectrum 28/24;
- ROM v7 on the A2091 to use some decent HDs;
- Kickstart 40.63 (not a rekicked version, of course!);
- A "tick" generator to keep the right time inside the PSU case);
- A monitor exclusive for the A2000

Just memory boards ATM:

1- the A2091 (with a broken 44C256-70 chip, already replaced for a 80ns unit - I was wondering what the fook made all those randoms GURUS - Thanks RAMtest!).

2- A Meta4 from IVS (BBoAH don't have a picture of it).

I'm currently searching for 3 more memory SIMMS to fit in it (I've found just one, rated at 60ns (for 30 pins SIMMS! Yay!).

I *think* I may have some for you

EDIT! http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search....meta4&company=

Looks like the same SIMMS, but I've only got 2mb ones & the Meta4 needs 1mb sticks max.

I've seen some though...stay tuned!

PZ.

That is the little bastard that causes a lot of fuss inside the A2000:

BTW: the RAMtest who comes with A2091 is excellent! Shame it don't show the position of the chip on the board itself.

That board is "funny": sometimes 440kb/s transfer, sometimes almost a full Mb/s! And I don't figure how to re-register IDEfix97 for it. Do I need to register again? How?

What chip is that man (can't read the numbers)?

Do they come in any other Amigas?

That is the über common 44C256 (70ns, in this exactly case). Swapped for a 80ns unit.

Used in A3000 as Fast memory, and in a lot of other Amiga-related devices.

Sorry for the poor picture, my regular camera don't have macro function, neither my cell phone.

Does the slower speed make a difference?

Is the reason for using an 80ns one that the 70ns ones are not as common?

If you can tell me what to look for there might be one at my place!

Don't bother, m8.

As is the controller is fine, believe me. I just need to put a decent ROM revision on the board and use some really BIG HD inside the big box.

I had some GURUS on that machine, but some due the broken memory chip (replaced), others from who knows?

So I'm confident that a simple cure for it is formatting the disk and put a brand "new" Classic Workbench on it (newer HD first, of course! ).

That old HD (52Mb) will be a perfect companion for my mint A500 r6 with external SCSI controller (AddSCSI). Yay!

Eheh, my exact feelings!

Just a matter of $$$, the guy decides to raise a bit the amount asked for it...

Not too much, from 150 to 200 BRL ( ~ £58). Sigh... I have to hide some more money from wifie.
