CD32 S-Video to 1084S Monitor

S-Video on the CD32 is perfect quality for me but I only have 1 TV in my house that has an S-Video port and it ain't where my CD32 is!

I'm looking for an S-Video to Luma-Chroma cable. Does such a thing really exist?

I've seen a couple of cables on eBay but not sure they are correct.

Why didn't they just put RGB output on the standard CD32!?

If someone can point me towards a cable that'll work I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

Craig

I'm afraid you'll have to build one and even then, luma+chroma isn't exactly the same as s-video, so it might not work just right.
You can in the meantime use the crappier composite video connector to connect to the 1084's CVBS connector, and you can also buy kipper2k's CD32 adapter board which includes SCART output.

I might have to go with Kipper's! He's awesome. I wonder what shipping cost is to the UK....

If you have a soldering iron, it's very easy to make an S-Video to Separated Video adapter yourself for less than $5. Just buy a male S-Video connector from an electronics store (or off eBay, if you're patient enough to wait for slow shipping from China), then cut the end off a 2x RCA stereo audio cable, and solder the two together (here's what the pins should be). I did exactly this, and it works great with my CD32, and also with my Sega Saturn and several other S-Video sources.

CBM 1084 vs Philips CM8833

I am fairly sure that the CBM 1084 have both the Chroma and Luma connectors as RCA connectors right beside the two audio connectors.

And the Philips CM8833 does only have a composite video connector.

Just checked my CM8833 "Artist" and it does only have a composite video in (except for the RGB connectors that also exists on both the 8833 and 1084)

But this thread is about the 1084 Nobody mentioned the Philips.

As said, he'd still have to make a cable and I repeat, Luma+Chroma is NOT EXACTLY S-Video. He might need to add a component or two on the cables.
