Soul Calibur 09/09/09

I still remember as if it was yesterday, when exactly 10 years ago Soul Calibur was released for the SEGA Dreamcast. The ads / commercial even emphasized on the iconic date: 09/09/09

My all time favorite was Soul Blade on the good ol’ PSX, especially its music and the Story Mode which were epic!

Sadly I didn’t enjoy Soul Calibur 2 as much on the PS-2 and never bothered to play SC III. Now I see that even SC IV was released!
So how well do they compare to the 1st two in the gameplay department?

Well Soul Calibur 1 is the King

But I do like the latest instalment. I don't get the idea with the Star Wars Character, but the rest is very good. I only played the Xbox version of S.C IV, so don't know if the ps3 version is as good

I always found the Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur superior to the PS2 version.... the same also applies to DOA 2. They run smoother and look smoother on the Dreamcast despite it being labeled a "weaker" system - anyone ever see Shenmue running on PS2 hardware?

Well, the Dreamcast had twice as much video-RAM as the PS2 had.

I agree Soul Calibur looked better on Dreamcast than on PS2.

Everyone knows that Soul Calibur Dreamcast blows away that lame Soul Calibur PS2 version. PS2 version has blocky graphics. YUCK!

That lamer who decided to cancel the superior Dreamcast was a complete moron who GAVE Sony $1,000,000.00 for free.

it's funny how everyone laments the demise of sega, it's like the dreamcast is becoming a martyr...

There wasn't really any demise, Sega is still about, albeit not making hardware.

Unfortunately the Dreamcast (and the Saturn) were failures, but Sega managed to survive.

I've maintained that line of thinking for years, though some of the Sonic games have lived up to my now lower expectations such as Sonic Heroes. This 'Project Needlemouse', a HD 2d return to the roots, I know I probably shouldn't but I am getting my hopes up. Just recently played through most of the 2d Sonic games and they are still fantastic fun!

I'm waiting till 14/10/09 for my Dreamcast 10th birthday celebrations, the EU release
