Some useless EAB Amiga Trivia....

Do you like me have hundreds or thousands of Floppy disks stored somewhere?

I counted mine up last year and all told I have got 2486 floppy disks.
There is a range of DD and HD, Original content, Coverdisks, pirated games and apps.

Given that each disk is 9cm wide.

and that the Earth is 4,007,500,000 cm in Circumference

My 2486 floppy disks stretch 22374cm side to side.

To wrap the world in floppies, we need 445277778 disks.

How many floppy disks do we have here on EAB?

How far around the world can EAB floppies get?

I guess you want exact numbers Well then let's say I have 186 disks (could be some more or less) left. So you can add 1674 cm from me

I can't be bothered to count - maybe if I knew how thick they were I could stack them one on top of t'other and measure how high my tower was?

Not to spil things but I think we are in need of a whole lot more floppies than first thought. !! The Earth's circumference is 40,075.16 kilometres. Multiply this by 1000 to get metres, then by another 100 to get a cm figure and we are looking at a mere 4007500000 cm. Divide this by nine (9) and we should roughly need 445277777.77777777777777777777778 floppies.

Lets hope we get there blokes and sheilas...!!!

I don't think there is a nice run of flat land to lay all the floppies out as well.

Might have to lay them on top of some mountains, which is gonna mean more floppies!

How do they work out the circumference of the Earth?

Think about it.. The land has different heights depending where you are, and so does sea level! The higher up we go, the more disks will be required!

I guess that would be worked out using the sea level measurement. But in effect, we may need even more floppies depending on which way we decide to go. I'll see if I can find a few more.

Shall we just stick to something more sensible... like covering Mount Everest in disks instead
