But then it would no longer be an original Amiga 4000, which is the point of my original post.
The new Checkmate already exists for people who want a redesigned case. But for many people, they would rather spend hundreds on a original A3000 case than buy one of those. |

But they aren't. It took me 3 attempts to get the PC keyboard I wanted. Every time I odered it they said it was out of stock, and when it came back in stock the price went up.
No company is making a case and keyboard styled like the A1000 or A4000, so if I want that I am forced to buy original hardware at grossly inflated prices. I'm not going to do that, but I would be prepared to pay a reasonable price for new hardware that is equivalent. |

But there are many who would be happy with something that looks the same and has the same functionality, even it doesn't weigh a ton and have screw holes that don't line up (A3000) or isn't made of thin metal with razor sharp edges (A4000). Quote:

The intent of "original hardware" relates to using moulds that will produces the style, anesthetics, and dimensions of the original case; using the original chip set rather than an FPGA version.
Of course, if minor corrections can be introduced such as screw alignment, quality RAM connectors etc, I don't think anybody would mind, rather we could legitimately say it is a new "revision". |

Tank mouse too? I mean it's hardly a reproduction without the tank mouse.

Those who complain about the quality of plastics should have a look at ACIIL’s printouts of A4000 front fascia on a proper, professional, resin printer.
It is astounding. Such printout is probably around or less than $100 with JLCPCB similar service… Since the case will require painting, a car painter can do both at the same time for another $100. A case should cost less than $1000, probably $600-$800, even considering the re-engineering, which leaves 2k$ for the motherboard… but the chips remain the issue. |
