I even cut the traces to have 1Mb CHIP instead of 512K CHIP + 512K FAST.

yeah I did the 1meg chip mod as well... oh well its a shame that the 512k is being wasted just so the clock can operate...

but at least I know now... and besides I must admit it was fun to do :P

I kept this A500 for trying mods. I have another one i won't touch.

Did the pal/ntsc switch as well, next is reset switch and kickstart switcher

What other mods can be done to the A500 that don't require hard to find parts?

fraid so mate there was supposed to be an upgrade that meant you could have both, but it never saw the light of day...

For all your HW hacking needs, try Aminet hardhacks section, there's loads in there, some more use than others nowaday, but the 14MHz/68010 mods are easy, if you can find the CPU... and give a nice little speed boost

I often used the hardhack aminet section.
Here i found a mod (cable hacking) to use a pc floppy drive instead of an amiga one : works great ! PCF2AmF, if i remember well....

i didn't make a lot of mods, as i try only those fun, easy to do, and useful to me. A 14MHz A500 is fun, but not useful (nowadays), as WinUAE can work faster...
