DiscreetFX submits proposal to acquire Amiga Inc. in the next 12 months

http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/a...p?storyid=3387

Members of DiscreetFX and their investors sent a formal proposal to
Amiga Inc. requesting formal validation of the companies value.
Currently we are hard at work finishing up our Super Size Me like
movie about Trans Fat called "Oil Change" but the plan is to secure
funding to purchase Amiga Inc. and all of it's IP in the next year.
That is our next project after completing the film. It has been on the
To-Do list for some time.

This of course depends on if Amiga Inc. wants to sell themselves in
the next year and if an agreed upon price can be negotiated.
DiscreetFX believes there is tremendous value in the Amiga brand and
Amiga OS 4.0. The CEO of DiscreetFX stated "Even though we primarily
develop our visual effects software on NewTek video editing solutions
for Windows and solutions on Mac OS X the Amiga has always held a
special place in my heart since I developed my first product on it. I
want to help bring the Amiga back to it's former glory in new IT
markets". If an agreement can be reached between Amiga Inc. and
DiscreetFX the return of Amiga will be amazing.

Best regards

I looked up discreet. Was it 3dstudiomax that they made or lightwave 3d?

That was 3d studio max wasn't it?

I reckon they may actually get off their arses and do something with it!

Amiga Inc. is AFAIK a privately owned company with no shares and no shareholders.

Discrete FX look like they are "no-bodies" in the public sector. They dont seem to have made or sold anything of any real substance, except the odd 3DStudio MAX / Lightwave plugins and the odd independant film.

They certainly dont look like they have any serious money.

I like the comment.. 'It has been on the To-Do list for some time.'

It should have been followed up by 'But the post-it note fell down the back of my desk and the cleaner reminded me of the impending takeover'

best of luck! i would not commercially touch anything amiga, and you should know that too, seing that the proposal and found raising for Amizilla has not produced anything in the reasonable timeframe that you suggested. but if you guys are serious in your intentions, i wish you best of luck.

strange though A-inc have aquired that indian java consultant company (like to know how) personally i belive that there gonna doa fast one and transfer the main lot to the newly named amiga company and sell off the pointless stuff to any one whom could be conned into it... OR declare a bankruptcy after stealing under noses...

personally I want to know what the DISCLOSED sum to Amiga corp / inc whatever paid to gatway was ?

AND why hasn't tulip or whom ever now owns the CBM brand done anything?

grrr grrr grrr

I fear as Alexh pretty much states... there not even a midsized company. but hey.. Amiga inc cant cost that much... its not as though it has assests.....

unless they try to sell us retro-amigan community.... I wouldn`t put it past them.

even if they buy Amiga Inc. I doubt they will make it a machine like it was, I bet they would make a x86 clone or something running maybe OS4-something so they can sell their software that runs only on this machine... plus they would have the amiga logo on it, which is nice for advertising in production studios etc... becaquse of it's past in this field...

It has been on the To-Do list because it took time to find and line up investor partners.

Let's give Pyromania the benefit of the doubt for now, he has been here a while and is a bonified Amiga freak with a track record of delivering products to the Amiga market.

I agree. I know weve been shafted many times before and yes i too would rush to buy every copy of CU Amiga to read about the next aquisition after Commodore went under, only find that one after the other just it killed the feeling of hope more and more for me.. I couldnt believe a technology like Amiga was biting the dust, but hey whats the worst that can happen now? We already have nothing going on, so why not encourage every potential opportunity ( except from Amiga.Inc ).

I know getting our hopes up is a painful process, but thats what life is about isnt it. Hope!. without hope you wouldnt get out of bed in the morning, so lets give him a break.

And yeah, its not going to be like the Amiga was back in the 80's or 90's, but i'll embrace anything that is Amiga like if it gives me the elegant style of Workbench such an OS4 derivative, and i would love to hear the name Amiga once again on the lips of the collective public, just to bring it into the spotlight and have the world realise there was actually another major player in the market at one point that held the spotlight. One that not may know of, but it so very well deserves the mention.

Im not saying something is going to come of this, but why not just support the man, instead of dragging our arms with constant pessimism.

Good Luck Pyromania!.

Sorry, I like you and all, but this is a kooky statement. Aim lower..far lower. Be realistic.

Thats what the majority of people do in their lives. They aim low.. too low, and they never achieve what they set out to in life, because they say to themselves " Im being realistic " which basically means, it too hard so why even try.

This kind of attitude get no-one anywhere, and if we all thought that way, the world would never have changed.

Nothing kooky about it at all... The man has a goal, and if he told himself " I'll just be realistic ", then he would never start!. Its what we tell ourselves that makes things fail. All of our internal bullshit.

Yep sure, its going to be a hard job, and maybe he wont make it, but then maybe he will hey.. and wouldnt that just break your pessimistic heart.

I still say ..

Good Luck Pyromania

So it's the best to aim high but to be realistic ?

I asked Pyromania on Amiga.org forum how much they plan to invest in Amiga Inc. project. This was actually "are you being realistic" question; buying Amiga Inc. alone would take few million $ off your pocket and then fun starts: hiring people, production, development, advertising, .... just more and more and more money. I just hope D-FX has good plan what to do after they by Ainc. (if one is for sale that is, and no one do it before them).
