So what's the advantage of using these over whdload zip files?

I launch games from an arcade front end. I just ran a batch file to generate a config file for each zip, for example

x_whdload_args = 5thGear.slave
fullscreen=1

and the arcade runs (fs-uae's) launcher.exe with the config file as an argument.

One problem I've got.. and writing it out has explained the problem to me.. is that the arcade front end thinks the Amiga process has finished straight away (that'll be because Launcher runs up fs-uae and then quits).

Since hdf files have a proper Amiga filesystem (FFS, SFS, PFS3 etc) you don't have to worry about illegal characters because of FAT limitations in Windows (Batman & Oswald just to name a few).

I doubt you will have to add anything more in your guide. Its pretty simple to follow.

It will be a long road. But one day ill have all whdload games converted.

Just out of interest, why are you adding all the different version numbers ? For example :-

Test Drive 2 & Data Disks (v1.0) 0588-0591.hdf
Test Drive 2 & Data Disks (v1.1).hdf

Surely the latest version would be the best one to use (less bugs and up to date). This would also save you more time in converting just the latest slave ?

Or is this a different version of the game and not the slave ?

The instructions are basic / step-by-step; they may seem long but once you've done it three or so times you can knock up a new .HDF pretty quickly

A further bit of clarification to the guide which is as follows:

a) For the file "WHDLoad_18.2_usr.lzx" I got this from http://whdload.de/whdload/WHDLoad_18.2_usr.lzx and e-mailed it to ramson1122.

b) For the file "Kickstarts.lzx", I created this archive and e-mailed it to ramson1122. It contains the following files and they need to be copied to a directory "DH0: Devs/Kickstarts":

ransom1122; by doing all version you're just going to increase the time it takes for you to get through them all. Besides, most people will only want to use the latest and greatest. Anyway, totally up to you how you want to proceed

Old versions or new I'd rather make them all. Saves me having to remake games if some versions work better then other versions. This way we will have the complete set of hdfs at some stage.
