external floppy drive question now :(
I have also purchased an Cumana External Floppy drive off ebay. Ive connected it at the back and when I put a bootable disk in the light on front flashes and then the machine boots to harddisk workbench and shows DF1???? If I restart the machine with no disk in DF1 and boot to workbench and then insert a disk again it comes up DF1???? and If I double click on that icon I get error at top "no icon to display" or something like that. Ive tried the desk and several others in DF0 and they are display the contents not DFO:Ndos so I know they should show in DF1 too, is there any settings I need to change or is this drive knackered too?
thanks again T |

Sounds like the disk drive is knackered. It could be that the heads have been knocked out of alignment - if so, it should be easy enough for a decent repair shop to fix. Dunno where you'd find one of those these days, though.
If it is an alignment problem, it is very possible that it happened in the post, so you can't really blame the seller for it. |

Broken floppy... Return the floppy to the purson who send the floppy to you and ask for a refund.
