a look at the Amiga Emulator on the 360
Hi All,
Just thought i'd dhow you how well the Amiga Emulator I believe created by Toni Willem & ported by Lantis performs on the Xbox 360. Video is in real time, no edits so you can see it performs well. http://kipper2k.com/360amiga/Amiga360.html |

How hard is it to mod your XBox to be able to load homebrew like this? Does it need a modchip for that?

Homebrew on the X360 seems so complex. There are all kind of drive chips, ISO-emulators, SATA cable rerouters. I have put in a couple of hours in learning wth you need to run pirate games and homebrew and I dont know where the hell to start. Do you need to ignite a chip with a spark, mod your DVD-drive with another PCB, rout the DVD-rom SATA cable to ur computer or can you just solder a 5 point mod chip and go pirate old school like it was 2005 again an XBOX 1 ruled?!

To mod the 360 is a bit of a PITA, good news is that all HDMI fat 360s and all slim 360s made before Aug 2011 are able to be glitched, so there are literally millions out there that can be glitched. There are quite a few people in the UK that actually do it for people too so its not too bad. I like the fact i can create a HDF from my Amiga HDD or CF card , copy it to the 360 and away i go and of course able to use the 360 controller for joystick functions and also plug in a usb keyboard into the 360 to give you keyboard functions. The only drawback is you need to use the thumbstick on the controller for mouse purposes UNLESS... you use a really neat little rig called Xim3 which allows you to play all of your xbox 360 games and emulators using a real keyboard and mouse (Brilliant rig!) it increases your gameplay by miles. If anyone needs help etc, i'll try to help you out
To glitch a 360, you need a $20 board, soldered to the mobo (6 - 7 wires), rewrite the firmware, get the firmware key for the cpu/dvd by running software, and then overwrite the firmware of the 360 using custom firmware. I think its worth it. (Once you do this btw, don't expect to use that 360 on xbox live as the machine will get banned. |

I repaired a thick XBOX 360 (3 red lights) to my brother in law and as he told it wasn't working he bought another this Christmas. He gave it to me a week ago for free and it ... works like a charm (dunno what his problem was, but I've left it working for hours). I've been this week searching about chips/usb/etc solutions but that thing about getting banned in Xbox life makes me want to let it as it is (by now). Anyway, I don't play much games. I just want to play Left 4 Dead (I've ordered it) as I do in my "PC".
An annoying thing is that you have to PAY to play online (which is the best, of course). They aren't letting Steam to take part of his benefits... BTW I've bought this adapter which I think is the best (I've found) to watch it right in my Led Tv, as it has (haven't received it yet) a very bad display: http://www.ebay.es/itm/280565400580?...84.m1439.l2649 Would like to know if it's good (the best for an old XBOX without HDMI) or not. Yes, I'm a little off topic, but surely I will mod it and will install the Amiga emulator finally... Last edited by Retrofan; 22 March 2012 at 11:31. |

Don't buy that one, This one is better, it supports composite and component input to TV, Composite video sux to a TV so if you have the component (red, Green and Blue inputs) use them instead http://www.ebay.ca/itm/High-Definiti...item3a705d3428 |

The emulator sucks or the configuration is bad
The aspect ratio of the Amiga is 4:3 not 16:19 like in the video The wrong aspect ratio distorts all the images and games...it really sucks |

Seems like a good idea. However my 360 is pretty new, like 6 months old, so I dunno how easy it would be to do. Plus if anything happens to it Microsoft would have me over a barrel. If I still had my old 360 I would consider this without a second thought.

Really cool, just a shame how modern consoles have become such hassles to mod

I should be able to run any softwareI want on a machine. It's this notion of having every system super controlled and hyper closed that is fucked up. |

Ironically the original Xbox may theoretically be a bit faster for some Amiga emulation due to JIT on x86 but not PPC!

"In October 2006, 1080p support was added for all models in a system update, including the "Core" using either the component cable, or the new VGA cable (although 1080p via component was not widely supported by televisions)."
Composite - 480/576p Component - 1080i VGA - 1080p HDMI - 1080p Please correct me if I'm wrong. EDIT: @Retrofan You're best going with the VGA lead, the one you already linked to imo. Last edited by seuden; 12 March 2012 at 15:06. |

Thee reasons why i prefer the cable with the component output are
More TV's have the Component inputs, the quality of component video is almost as good as HDMI, it also accepts composite input (which is crap) but still an option., there is actually an all in one cable you can buy that gives you all the inputs, a little pricier but still an option |

Every LCD/Plasma TV I've come across has had PC input. Having the VGA lead also gives you the opportunity to use PC monitors.
I'm sure TV's with VGA accept 1080p through VGA where as TV's with component generally only accept 1080i through component. Therefore imo VGA is the best route to take if you can't have hdmi and have the compatible TV. |
