In exactly one year the compiled programs will crash and set fire to the computer of all the developer's user base.

Apple is giving away X-code 2.2 a very nice IDE for MacOS in an effort to woo homebrew developers to the platform.
Linux has it's GCC. I guess M$ have seen how easy it is to develop for other platforms and want to encourage homebrew on PC? If I can find somewhere to get the DDK from I'll see if this free version of VC++ will compile WinUAE. |

I've guess you had the same problem as everyone else

Anyway if they do work, why don't we fix a “compile UAE package”? Instructions on how to do it are available form the latest compile thread here and it will help a lot of ppl who are put off by registering on msdn and so on. |

It would be best if WinUAE was compilable with GCC too, it's much easier to setup and use than the Microsoft Compilers. Some hints how to do it could be taken from E-UAE I guess.

DDK is only needed for SPTI SCSI, direct harddrive access and keyboard leds. There is "config option" in sysconfig.h (If I remember correctly)
GCC compilation patches are accepted but I don't care about it myself |

@Duke
I'd rather put it "if WinUAE was able to compile with GCC again" , as it was definitely compilable when Brian King was the maintainer and the builds were hosted on codepoet.com. But then came a point when there were MSVC++ specific things built in and it did no longer compile. Yes, it would be a good thing, but maybe a helluva lot of work. |
