With the age in mind it could be cheaper,
but i guess it's ok.
After all it includes AmigaWriter/ArtEffect/StormC/StormScreenManager
and QNX
And it's a bit faster as the a4000t/060 they've got for up to 2000$
(oh hell i want that machine)

The author doesn't get any money for the sales of this item. There is no more development of this product for legal reasons.

Probably better to find an Amithlon spec PC second hand and spend your hard earned money on something else which will be a re-investment into the community? No?

Plus the AMIthlon OSxl CD was sold illegally without licenses for Kickstart or Workbench so surely it is no less immoral to rip it off?

Don't feel bad for SoftHut, they have a habit of selling illegal software

28 $ for an illegal Ambermoon that you can get legally for free? Wow! That's surely cheekily.

The legal part is a bit woolly but the free part is true.

Someone, somewhere owns the rights, but it certainly wasn't the company formally known as Alive Mediasoft who manufactured the discs that SoftHut are selling.

If it is old Stock from times where it was Legal,
he can sell it legal, or not?

Nobody cares about the Computer, it's much too expensive
but the Amithlon CD's (even when expensive too) have
reachable Price - Remembering that Amithlon is a rare even on ebay...

Seems like the stock never was legal. Not to mention that even if it was legal 28 $ is a ripoff price.

Paying for a game i can get for free, i wouldn't do(legal or not)
but how about the legal status of the Amithlon CD's?
I don't care, i have it already - but i know there are much people searching
for it.
It is an often asked questions on different boards

FWIW:
I'd love to see Amithlon for sale legally - even now with years of no development it's a worthwhile piece of software...
...but it's never been legal to sell:
1st - because the rights to the A.(st)inc IP were never secured, even if that was only because A.(st)inc were a bunch of tw*ts about it.
2nd - Bernie Meyer withdrew the licence to his contribution (most of it) when he got sh*fted over the A.(st)inc licensing issue.

Such a shame... AND this resulted in Umilator never seeing the light of day.

Generally there can't be much wrong with selling old stock but Amithlon is in a regrettably peculiar situation - can't be sold so does that make it the most abandoned of 'abandonware'..?

Illegal. As I said originally.

Abandonware is fictional. A terminology invented so software pirates can sleep better at night.

At least interesting infos about the legal's here
Seems i mixed some Amithlon memorys with Umilator
i had in mind that Amithlon was selled legal temporarily

Maybe a last noob question:
Softhut confirmed per Mail that they have some Amithlon to sell,
If someone is going to buy this, then from lawyers side softhut is
the bad guy, right?

Huh, I thought as much. I ordered kick 3.1 for my A2000 last year, and got a pair of EPROMs with home made labels saying Kickstart Amiga 2000 v40.68 (which does not exist, it's 40.63 for 500/2000). I sent them back for a replacement, but he claimed he never received them.

Hope for the Amithlon CD's that they're not CDR's (150$ for them 'ouch')

Power Computing sold me a KS 3.1 v40.70 beta for my A3000, a revision which never officially went on sale. I'm pretty sure no Amiga shop pays anyone royalties on KS ROMs anymore, they just warez them. After all who will ever know? (Not that I endorse such behaviour )

I always post returns as recorded delivery then you have a paper trail.

I bet they all were CD-R direct from publishers H&P. Glass masters for CD's cost a lot of money. Doubtful they pressed such small volumes. But you never know.

That's very sensible, Alex, and something I always do.

I have had three instances of companies denying they received items I have returned, only to find it languishing in their 'Goods Inward' when I have been able to confirm delivery and (if necessary) tell them who signed for it!

My original copy of Amithlon/AmigaOS XL is not a CD-R.

Perhaps glass masters are much cheaper these days, they used to be over £1000.

You can get 300 pressed CDs including the master for about 500 € here. Given that selling them for 150 $ isn't a bad deal at all
