Able to buy a CD32..able to put in a tower?

Hi all,

I've got the opportunity to buy a CD32. Now, as this is basically an A1200, would it be possible to take the motherboard out and put it into a tower? Following on from that, does the CD32 have expansion ports etc so I could attach an accelerator and HD?

cheers in advance!

Your options are kind of limited with a CD32.

the sx-1 and sx-32 will allow you to add a HDD and floppy drive, also some extra ram iirc.
The sx-32 pro has its own accelerator built in and also has the above.

These expansions are more expensive than a 1200 so it kind of defeats the purpose for your needs. Afaik you cannot use any other amigas accelerator in the cd32.

My advice is buy a 1200 mobo and expand on that and get the cd32 for doing what a cd32 does best. Sitting under the TV and playing games.

What will you use the expanded tower amiga to do? If it is to play WHDLoad games dont count a stock standard CD32 out as there are some cool compilations that work fine on a bog standard CD32.

The reason amiga stuff is so hard to find in NZ is because of a guy called slayer. He has hoarded all the amiga bits from both islands and would rather they sit there unused than let anyone else have them.

Down here in Melbourne its pretty good at the moment. There are two amiga user groups that I know of and third mysterious exclusive one with rituals involving goats.... seriously

Last night I attended a beach party / demo party with a few people which was pretty cool.

As for an abundance of hardware, well I cant say I have hit that pot of gold yet, but its around on epay or through user group members if you are willing to spend the cash.

On a side note there is www.amibay.com, you could join up there and place a wanted ad, who knows what might be available.

Well what it lacked in size it made up for in heart. Around 20-25 people sitting around a gaffa taped projector screen in a park with the beach just a short walk away. There were around 5 or 6 entries in the music section, most of them played on hippo player on AnakiRob's 1200. Around 4 entries in the gfx section and 3 entries in the actual demo compo. The amiga entry was an OCS/ECS demo by a spanish group. There was also a PC demo which was a fairwell for an aussie group. Also a fun c64 demo with many ducks in it.

Sorry I don't remember any of the names, I'll try and find out and report back.

Like I said, smaller than anything that goes on in Europe but for a fun night outdoors it was very cool. Its the second beach party the guys have organized and they also have an indoors party around September called Syntax which from what I have heard has been pretty successful the last couple of years.

edit: CRAPPY CAMERA PHONE PHOTOS FTW!!!
