Hardly exclusive if they are arcade ports...you're better off with a simple CPS1 emulator, rather then emulating a complex japanese computer to play the ports...

Right, there aren't many exclusive games which aren't some crazy Japanese games (Mahjong, Hentai etc.) or unreadable RPGs. That's what i've meant. The arcade ports are worth to play, some has a alternative game mode (e.g. other levels) or nice MIDI/MT-32 music.

Yes if you're interested to see the differences it is worth a go on emulation.
I liked seeing what they did with ghouls and ghosts and new zealand story, other than that I didn't find it too interesting! Owning the actual hardware is different of course, that would be great fun. |

I still keep the dream to get one of these one day. My recent trip to Japan found me return empty-handed It's not as easy to find these working anymore, but usually the problem that makes them non working is easy to fix (power supply issues). Then there's the issue of the monitor but I am sure you can build a 31Khz adapter or just use any sort of scandoubler. Anyway, ONE DAY, ONE DAY, my precious shall be mine :P Even though I don't collect any shit anymore, and I have successfully sold most of my stuff (except Amigas), I still want one of these. It's basically the finest 68k based home computer EVER built (sorry Amiga :P) Quote:
"Hardware-wise, it was very similar to arcade hardware of the time, and it served as the Capcom CPS system development machine. It supported separate text RAM, graphic RAM and hardware sprites. Sound was produced internally via Yamaha's then top-of-the-line YM2151 FM synthesizer and a single channel OKI MSM6258V for PCM. Due to this and other similarities it played host to many arcade game ports in its day. " It was basically designed just like arcade boards. The CPS-1 system does NOT have a Z80, by the way, just any type of DPCM chip for samples. You're getting confused with the CPS System Dash which was a little upgrade that used special Z80s for the QSound DPCM |

The CP system 1 has a Z80 which drives the sound part. (believe me, i have 4 or 5 CPS boards at home XD !)

CPS-1 has a z80 onboard pal Just check mame.
For instance i own those : SF2 world warriors (68000P10 + Z80P4) CPS1 board SF2 Champion edition (68000P10 + Z80P4) CPS1 board SF2 HYPER FIGHTING (68000P12 + Z80P4) CPS DASH board Final Fight (68000P10 + Z80P4) CPS1 Knights of the Round (68000P10 + Z80P4) CPS1 Cadillac and Dinosaurs (68000P12 + Z80P6 kabuki + QSOUNDP4) CPS DASH/QSOUND Warriors of Fate (68000P12 + Z80P6 Kabuki + QSOUNDP4) CPS DASH/QSOUND The difference between the CPS1 and CPS DASH is 2 points : 1st, the 68000 clock is 12mhz instead of 10, and the Z80 is an encrypted one in the CPS Dash while it's a regular one in CPS-1 SSF2 (68000P16 + Z80P8 + QSOUNDP4) CPS2 SSF2T (68000P16+ Z80P8 + QSOUNDP4) CPS2 In CPS-1 the Z80 drives the YM-2151 and on CPS-2 it drives the Qsound chip. I am a proud owner of an (ACE HD) X68000 since a few months as well. But honestly while some games are really great, I was a slight bit disappointed and I think the Amiga is all round a better product. It just feels so much better thought through.
