@jotd:

Any chance that you update your Beast III patch again? CD32 controls works fine but you forgot the jump button. Pressing the D-Pad up for jump is annoying. Red = Fire, Blue = jump button, Green or Yellow = change weapon would be nice.

Jump button is not that simple. You have to check if character is not facing a ladder, or 2nd button would make him climb the ladder. I jave performed that stunt a few times with toki and gngoblins., doable but not trivial.

Ah, ok. Didn't knew this could be that problematic to code. Anyway, if you are bored one day...

Doesn't Project-X support weapon select using a button on a CD32 controller ?

I know 2 buttons work with my Wico stick, but not on my KTRL CD32 pad.

This is interesting.
As said many times before the way the joystick routines for second button opertion are handled varies depending on if you are using:
- CD32 pad
- 2 button Master System type joystick
- 3 or more button Mega Drive type joystick.

Project-X works, as far as I remember, with the "Master System" type scheme, so maybe if the KTRL CD32 pad does not resort to that operating mode like ever, it could bring this kinda issue.

Maybe bring Mickgyver's attention to this issue to see if it's the pad, the code or both. From what I understood, the CD32 pad should default to "master system" operation if not being addressed like a CD32 pad.

@RetroNerd you're welcome. And I'm going to release another update to support joypads for both players and fix some small glitches. The game is good, but it took me a long time to adapt it properly / fix (almost) all controller bugs.

I have improved the ReadJoyPad.s routine so it detects if a joypad is connected or just a joystick. If just a joystick is connected, then if it's a 2 button joy, you can use the 2nd button as "blue" at least.

Next improvement projects I thought of (for very good games that deserve it):

- Rodland arcade-like controls (& pause on joypad)
- Silkworm jeep arcade-like controls (would make jeep easier to control, with 1 button it's a bit hard)

As someone said, you can create improvement requests in Mantis, it's easier to follow for me at least. Also the games which work with a CD32 pad but not with a 2 button joystick qualify (recently fixed Bubble & Squeak, thanks to Toni which explained the difference between a joystick button 2 and a joypad blue button... again)

Sounds good too.

I didn't want to flush mantis with just feature requests. But if you want it that way. I will probably add some the next days.

@JOTD : The Jeep control update you did with Silkworm was really great, thank you !

@Retro-Nerd : One game which can benefit for a button to jump is also Superfrog
On the CD32 version of this game you can use one button for jump but unfortunately they haven't disabled up to jump.

@jeje: Once you're used to it, it does the jeep justice. Otherwise it's frustrating (hard enough like that).

@retronerd: Superfrog yes, that shouldn't be too difficult, except that I'll have to ask Ian / check if I have the latest source to adapt it.

You can add Mantis issues, and you can also reply here. FYI I'm doing Immortal right now. The aim is full joypad control for everything (including level codes)

I'll process only the games that are worth it, not every US Gold turd that has been written.

Hehe, i know. But i don't think the requested games in my first post are crap. Cedric i.e is a nice fantasy platformer. But it really needs a jump button.

i've pm'ed cfou a while ago, but no response yet. so my request would be a version that can be completely controlled with a cd32-pad. no mouse or keyboard needed.

escape/backspace to retreat sould be mapped to the pad as well.

it would be very nice if someone (cfou?) could have a second closer look at this.

thanks a lot!!

Is there a chance that somebody will look into this? Such a great game and still not 100% Pad-playable / CD32 compatible....

I have just noticed that the problem is still there while playing around with earok's cd32 and beer compilation.

That is awesome, thank you so much!!

Now please add Player 2 Control on map with his pad and not mouse.

At the moment Player 2 has to overtake the Pad of Player 1 to move his Troops. This is inconvinient and might cause confusion at some Point. Otherwise this can only be done with the mouse but we want Player 1 to be fully Pad controllable :-)

Best regards!!!
