I recently bought one of those BenQ G922HDLs, and I can't get it to sync down below 30kHz
I've contacted the author of the blog for more info, and I'm still waiting for an answer It can't be a firmware problem since they only have one firmware version (I was told by BenQ) |

I just got Viewsonic VX2433wm, 24 in monitor with 3 independent inputs, HDMI, DVI and VGA.
The few good things about it: 1. Does 50Hz 2. 3 inputs, I have my PC and A3000 on it at the same time, no need for video switcher 3. Has speakers, not that good but works fine 4. Can select 4:3 ratio It does not scan down to 15KHz , the range is 24-83KHz but, Finally I can play PAL games on VGA monitor also, works well with Atari STE in mono mode |

Dell ST2410 and Amiga RGB to VGA Monitor Adapter (Amigakit)
I decided to try hooking one of my 1200s to my Dell ST2410 monitor, so I purchased Amiga RGB to VGA Monitor Adapter from AmigaKit. I switched to DBLNTSC and hooked it up to the Monitor and it worked fine. I launched Harlequin via WHDLoad, which I thought would have given me a blank screen, but the game actually displayed. I tried my other 1200 without switching to DBLNTSC and it worked as well.
It appears that the Dell ST2410 24" is able to handle the 15khz signal from the amiga. I do not have a flicker fixer or scandoubler in either of my amigas. |

I was lucky, but even if it didn't work I wasn't out anything as it is my main PC monitor. It's also nice that I can select between inputs using the the monitors menu, so i can switch between the Amiga (VGA) and the PC (DVI) using the built in menu.

Interlace modes still flicker DBLPAL mode is not supported, but PAL mode for games is. I tested it with Rainbow islands. In NTSC mode the screen seems to keep getting pushed down below the scores, but in PAL mode this issue is not present. Last edited by Abaddon; 18 October 2010 at 01:43. |

Cool, 15KHz, 50Hz compatible with 4:3 aspect ratio select with no flicker in non-interlaced modes. Sounds very usable.

Wish there was an Amiga fan who worked in a TV shop who could check if any LCD TVs can input 15khz video..

Btw. my Dell U2311H LCD monitor can display 15KHz picture. I tried hooking up A500 and A1200 directly to it and it works fine. Amigas are PAL, both WB and games work, monitor has setting for 4:3 aspect ratio.

Yup, just the homemade adapter. From what I read every U2x11H should work, but newer edition U2x12HM doesn't support this.
Btw. I made an error with that drawing, on DB15 connector wire (VSYNC) that goes to pin 15 should go to pin 14, pin connections list above the drawing is correct. |

The Dell U2410 also works well with 15kHz video input, but it's not on sale any more either. I reckon there are a good few types that should be easy enough to get second-hand though if you look around...

The interesting thing is that used models of this monitor, dell U2410, seem to sell for high prices..

Component and S-video look almost as good as genuine RGB and many televisions will accept one or the other or both. |

Sorry for the thread necromancy, I wasn't sure of the rule about that.
I recently picked up a 23-pin RGB to 15-pin VGA connector which I was going to use to connect to one of those cheap Chinese scan doublers. But I was curious and was wondering if any screen in my house somehow supported 15hz. It was a long shot and I assumed it wouldn't work with any of them but some how one of them actually worked! Full video of the action: [ Show youtube player ] The model is a Magnavox 17MD255/17. They're pretty cheap from what I've seen online. |

Maybe the truth is these monitors are not 15khz, they are just "able to handle" 15khz signals. Take a picture of 240p then upscale to 480p and display it, hence the 24khz mark
15khz means 240p resolution and these monitors don't have such a resolution. PS. I guess they do the same job a "scandoubler" does PS2. 50 (fps) * 480p = 24.000 = 24khz. But not bad, it's an alternative if you don't have space for a CRT. If your monitor has 24 khz mark will be able to do this I guess Last edited by nobody; 02 May 2017 at 09:12. |

I have another monitor: Cornea CT1702T works natively with Amiga
Older monitor/TV, not the best picture quality. |

I bought a Microvitec 1438 CRT recently because it seems to be banded about as the "perfect Amiga monitor" (it's actually Amiga branded by Microvitec).
I don't know if I have higher expectations than others, or if mine is just faulty but the flicker in PAL Interlaced mode is horrendous so I'm not really sure how this can be the perfect Amiga monitor Granted it looks lovely in non interlaced mode for games and demos and Super 72 Interlaced 800x600 is pretty nice, but my ECS machine can only do that in 4 colours so it's not very good for that. If I'm honest, I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a perfect monitor for an Amiga, CRT or LCD. They were out at an awkward time where screens had progressed from CGA but not made it to the point of being friendly to our now modern stuff. |
