Determine 68060 revision via Software?
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a software method of determining the revision of a 68060 chip? I'm wondering because my Blizzard 1260, which I've had since new, has the identifiers scrubbed off the chip and is reprinted with just "060RC50". It's been happily running at 66MHz with no problems since 2003, but now I'm curious as to what revision it is and why DCE tried to hide that information from me. |

There's probably already a program on Aminet that can do it, but you go into supervisor mode and read the PCR control register, and bits 8 through 15 will hold the revision number.

It's a Rev. 1
 Still steaming along nicely at 66MHz all these years later. I've always had a heatsink on it, though it never seems to get particularly warm.

I had an Apollo 1260 running at 80Mhz. for years without any cooling
 060 CPU really isn´t getting that hot at all .... |

Does anyone monitor the temperature of your 060s? How hot is hot?
I recently added a digital thermometer to my GVP 4060, running at 50Mhz. The sensor lead is attached to the heat sink. There's a cooling fan on the heat sink and additional exhaust fan on the A4000D case. My temps hover around 90F/32C. |

I haven't measured my 060, but without a heatsink, my 060 feels warm at 50MHz and hot at 66MHz, but not too hot to touch. With a heatsink and small fan it feels about as warm at 66MHz as it does without at 50MHz
