Amiga 1000
I don't really know if this is a hardware or software question but, what the hell.
I've just got an old AMIGA 1000. Don't know how many of you remembers that one, but the point is, she doesn't have rom installed. I need some kinda boot disk with the rom on it so does anyone know where to get one?Or which rom do I need and in which form should it be on the disk so that it works? Thx in advance |

To create Kickstart disk you need normal 256KB Kickstart 1.x image file and for example following program: http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/amine...teKickDisk.lha
Format of Kickstart disk is very simple: "KICK", 508 bytes of zeroes, image of Kickstart ROM. |

So if you dont have a extra Amiga to make the kick disk, you are in a bit of trouble.
If someone tells me how to build such kickdisk I don't mind sending you a kickstart disk thru post. I am always glad to help revive Amigas |

thx but...
I have another AMIGA but it would seem that I have a problem in getting some programs so if someone has or knows where to find grabrom or something with which to make an image of rom file I would be very appreciative

I have 2 amiga 1000s and about 4 different kickstart disks 1.1, 1.2 ,1.3 and 1.2 with extra utillities loaded on but I cant test or copy them for you because my last 1084 monitor blew up recently If I can get my hands on a TV modulator or a cheap 1084 I will be happy to send them to you
Amiga 1000s had the best build quality of any amiga |

Hey, Amigaboy keeps saying that Amiga stuff is cheaparse in Oz. You might want to try to score one in a boot fair! Nothing beats a 1084!

A couple of places. Try :
Flea Markets (Lots of amiga stuff at rock bottom prices) Salvation Army (This is where I've picked up A500's for $5...although I do look pretty weird walking in there, being 19 and all ) That's all I can remember now. There's probably others, but not as significant as those two. |

Retroman, you have to take into consideration the...uhmm.. 'penetration' of the Amiga product in different places. If here I see a monitor for 20 bucks, it's a fucking steal! Amigas were rare and expensive over here, always, unlike Germany or teh UK, where you could find them ten-a-penny.
You go to Japan and see a Turbo R going for 80 bucks, and you think WTF!!!, but a jap might come and say 'tsk tsk, that's expensive!' and you might want to rip his throat Ah, I had to take that out of my chest so I don't rip your throat when you say 20 dollars for a 1084 is not cheap I wish i could find one of those at that price! Ohh.! Kikstart 128 arrived. Time to play when i get home |
