Its funny that all of the 64/Amiga sites are all about gaming. I used both but wasn't much of a gamer.
I used SpeedScript and whatever compute's drawing program was mostly. |

@Neil79 (and I think most of us)... Sometimes I think that a lot of new releases for the C64 are just like... the Limbo Rock.... (just talking about Kb's and what they can get with them everytime)
Limbo lower now... Limbo lower now... How low can you go?? But that's just because they are getting more and more and more with the same amount of them (well, you've also seen in post 41 what they can get now with for example just 4Kb). And then talking about the song and the group, and now about what we are getting... "Let's twist again" everytime Last edited by Retrofan; 01 February 2017 at 00:02. |

What the heck went wrong at Datastorm 2017 a few days ago that The Shores of Reflection didn't win the demo competition?

For me, what "killed" the Shape demo is that it lacks a little bit of cohesiveness. The TRIAD demo has those smooth transitions between scenes that the scene takes as "standard" now, and having more than one tune on the Shape demo doesn't help with it being cohesive. The TRIAD demo runs with a theme throughout rather solidly, while the Shape demo fails a bit to make "sense" with the minimal narrative it is trying to convey. Ah I went on a rant! To me both demos are top material, but agree with you that I veer towards favoring the Shape demo (Archmage's art is always amazing, and that Linus tune in the middle part is one of the best SID tunes I heard in years). Rant over ;P |

i'm searching a game that is a Dragon's Lair clone, but different in graphcis, more simple, more stylized, but real laser game.
You have to interact only at the right time to proceed. i played with this game many years ago and now i have 25.000 titles, but i didn't find it. |

Puff... I've just bought an Amstrad CPC 6128, it had a great price and I'm interested in trying an Amstrad (for the very first time).
But now I'm watching youtube videos just comparing a bit, and just to start I've searched for example for the "Ghouls 'N Ghosts" game. Just take a look: Amstrad: [ Show youtube player ] Commodore 64: [ Show youtube player ] In my opinion, the Amstrad version has larger graphics and that's all, but all of the rest just sucks comparing them. I'm an old Speccy user anyway, so I think I better take the Amstrad just like an upgrade of it, but that doesn't get to the C64 level yet. Sound, maybe graphics sometimes, scroll and all I believe. Anyway I've heard that the Amstrad games are underpowered for what they could get. They also had more hardware, the CPC 6128 Plus, but only about 32 games where using something, so... Ghouls'n'Ghosts on CPC is a borked job. They spent something like 3 weeks to make it....
The C64 release has more polish, but very small sprites.... and the great tim follin music. |
