Can't say anything definitive against the VC really
maybe it lacks features compared to a full-fledged emulator
maybe wii authors' ambition is to emulate each and every N64 game and will pursue this objective even after Nintendo grows tired of the homebrew exploits

Fixed. You still have no idea about it. How should you anyway. Go, buy a Wii, come back, say something about it. Otherwise just stick to the usage of Dolphin.

Please note, no Dolphins were harmed in the making of this thread.

(Thought I better clear that up)

I made it clear I don't care much about wii exclusives, I am not going to buy one just to play GC games on my PC ! Still, you won't convince me Nintendo shouldn't have worked a little harder to support more N64 games, which, again, nor the wii neither the GC catalog could completely supersede.

The VC might be an interesting piece of software to disassemble, but I don't have the skills to do so. Finally, I am sure you forgot to say thanks about wii64 compatibility list I posted. It's on the house anyway, enjoy !

I didn't asked for a list of a homebrew emulator. The bit about buying a Wii to play GC games on your PC is funny though. Thanks for that. I know it falls on deaf ears anyway, but I would like to point out that if you would've a clue about the VC, you won't say that 'Nintendo shouldn't have worked a little harder to support more N64 games'. They did and it's only because of a product policy they are limited. That's why I said you shouldn't talk about stuff you don't have any idea of. I don't think that you ever get out of that habit, but hope dies last.

I can't resist the temptation to post a link from your favorite online encyclopedia :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_homebrew

Homebrew, in the context of the wii, relates to
Quote:
defeating the Wii's copy protection and code signing measures. In more general terms, Wii Homebrew refers to the use of the Wii's hardware, accessories and software for purposes outside those intended by the manufacturer.

Original efforts focused on using the Wii Remote as a pointing device on other operating systems, or running web-based games in the built-in web browser. Subsequent developments, such as the "Twilight hack", "Bannerbomb", and the "Homebrew Channel", have made native code execution possible."
I suppose by "homebrew emulator" you intended to depreciate wii64 reputation (dare to say WinUAE is a homebrew emulator ? ). Well, fyi it might well be needed should things not turn out as "perfect" as expected with the VC.

Picked from one of DeLaFontaine famous fables, here's a French saying : "We should never forget we sometimes need less important beings in certain situations."

Anyway, I leave you with that then, but I really can't believe you actually link to a Wiki and don't get why I said 'homebrew emulator' Wow, your thickness is indeed epic. Go on then.

simply put, wii64 ought to be much better than other homebrew emulators. Have in mind it was not hastily made by a few SNES fanbwoys with acne but derived from mupen64 which is a robust cross-platform plugin-based emulator.

mupen64+ home page
http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus

This said, I am not going to argue whether it's superior to the VC or not. Heck, there shouldn't be anything wrong in using both if you're serious about emulating the N64 !

THB was implying people were just happy with playing N64 games via the VC.
I deliberately misinterpreted TCD words as :
"I didn't asked for a list of yet another homebrew emulator (puking !)"

That's probably not what he really meant but I though of using this to promote wii64's case VS the VC.
