Happy PNaCl Amiga 500 Emulator

This website runs an emulator of the Amiga 500 inside of Chrome by using Portable Native Client, a way to run existing C/C++ in the browser in a safe way across operating systems and across machine architectures.

Amiga Emulator in a Browser

Just read about two projects recently and had a look. Interesting concepts.
Here you can try them out yourself.

I wonder if they're using the FS-UAE source code, particularly in the second link?

I think those web based emulators are useless...

When you use a browser for emulation you can already use the emulator exe on the PC.

Why do people waste time in creating this kind of emulators instead of helping getting the existing emulators better?

Yup, browsers sure have come a long way. I suppose the idea is to be able to play Amiga games in a browser without the need for configuration; a novel way to introduce newbies to the Amiga community and it's wealth of ace games (as well as everything else!). Once everything loads, the browser emulation works fine. Just need to work on the slow loading (which tested my patience a bit wondering if it was going to work at all lol).

Hmmm. I wanted to find out more about Quake 2 in a browser then ended up on idsoftware website but it seems my security has flagged it as harmful!

Also there are people who have Chrome books or something like that. So they can enjoy Amiga as well. Not useless at all.

Definitely not useless. This provides access to Amiga in say computers where exe loading is not possible

This thread has jogged my fading memory (yep, bad these days). I remember asking the possibility of playing Amiga games online in this thread (May 2008). Shows how things has progressed since!

Note: My own personal website (as mentioned in link to other post above) has long closed due to costs and real life).
