Apollo 040 SCSI-II controller
I have an Apollo 040 with SCSI controller for my A1200. Since I've owned this I have not owned any SCSI devices till now. Now I'm wondering if I need any software to get this up and running, or will I simply need to plug in my hardware, install and configure ASIMCDFS (since it's a CD-ROM) and use it to my hearts content?

for hardisks you do not need any software
for cdrom I recommend idefix97...connect the cdrom and use idefix installer ...it will find the cdrom and configure automatically btw, cdrom speed is like ide hardisk speed on apollo scsi controller is around 4 or 5mb /second max....depends of the hardisk anyways it's a bit faster than internal ide on the A1200 |

idefix97 is commercial and requires registration. Also installing it did not do a thing for my situation.
Can someone provide me a link to the original software that came with this hardware please? THank you! |

It installed all kinds of devices into my DEVs directory, none of which are the SCSI.DEVICE I'm looking for.
My SCSI Cd-ROm is set to Unit 5, so I edited the ATAPI.DEVICE to mirror my set up, but that was to no avail. I'm at a loss, what should I do? I've not messed with SCSI in about 20 years... |

when you use idefix97,look for the apollo scsi in the search field on installing the cdrom. EDIT:- the device you are qouting is the ide interface EDIT2:-i think the device is called 1230scsi.devise or something like that (its been a long time since ive use one of these) Last edited by roy bates; 06 November 2011 at 22:16. |

Ya... that's the thing. I didn't see a mention of the Apollo at all, and I only turned to the IDE interface because of the lack of supported Apollo devices...
I'll have a second look when I got home. Perhaps I just over looked something. |

I just downloaded the archive again and looked through the files...
There is nothing there with the word Apollo attached to it. I believe I found the original Apollo 040 Install disc on the EAB server. It was under MISC and has an Apollo SCSI device. I'm going to try that one tonight. |

Dirty translation of the Lies_Mich (readme)
Dear customer, Apollo! This document presents information on the new 5.0 version of Apollo. -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- * Routines to transfer 68040/68060 processors optimized * CD-ROM access is now at full speed and interrupt capability * Workbench install: To install the Workbensch partition and format Install your disk with Apollo. Then do a reset and boot up your 'installer' software. With this you can then Installing the Workbench to perform individually. The direct installation with Apollo-Install is no longer possible. Since this is intended only for the Workbench V1.3 and V2.0 versions, was which are already obsolete in the meantime, should this not Represent restriction. * AmigaDOS uses signed 32-bit pointer for addressing of storage media. Thus, a device has a maximum capacity of Have 2 GB. To connect more disks can still be this in 2 GB chunks 'broken', then the individual plates as be treated. These pieces can then use the device number be distinguished. Example: --------- 4.5 GB hard disk with, connected as unit number 1 is displayed as: - 2 GB disk with unit number one - 2 GB disk with unit number 11 - 500 MB disk with 21 Umitnummer * Connection of CD-ROM drives: For the operation of a CD-ROM drive, you need a CD-ROM driver, e.g. the Aminet CD-ROM drivers (Public Domain). You also need to create a suitable mount list entry. As assistance is included on this disk model Mount List Entry. Please note the double hyphen in the 'startup'-line (' SCSI - Apollo.device ') * Apollo tools: ------------- * SCSI Speed This can be for each unit in retrospect, the transmission adjust speed. Normally, the Apollo software this automatically at boot time. If, however, in devices with Operating transmission errors occur, then the speed be changed using 'SCSI Speed'. NOTE: If you put a slow speed device, this can result in data loss! SYNTAX: SCSI Speed <Unit-Nr> <SPEED>; Speed: 0 = slow 1 = medium 2 = fast * AT-Speed - ditto for the AT-Apollo2000 part of the controller * SCSI Int Allows for each device - regardless of the setting RDB - set the use of interrupts when transferring be. This only applies to data transmission, the system interrupts are not affected. SYNTAX: SCSI Int <Unit-Nr> <0 / 1>, 0 = Interrups to 1 = interrupts (polling BUSY) |
