Converting Megadrive controller to Standard Joypad
Is it possible for me to patch the cable/lead for me to use a six button Megadrive controller as a two button Amiga Joypad?
What I would really like is: A, B & C = button A X, Y & Z = button B but any functional 2 button config would do. |

It already works as a 2 button joypad. B=Button 1, C=Button 2.

That's what I thought they should do. However I purchased two of these 6 button controllers. And the Amiga will only recognise the DPad and B button, I thought they might be faulty, so I tested them on a friends MD, and they work fine. So what's wrong?

AmiMasterGear and several WHDLoad slaves with the appropriate CUSTOM tooltype set.

Try playing the real games (not the WHDload versions) and they should work.

Besided, the reason I purchased the pads was so I could play master system games with a controller using AmiMasterGear. |

Turrican2 had two button functionality without whdload. Maybe try that but your results should be the same as AmiMasterGear.

I don't know the technical reasons (different internal wiring or whatever) but something similar happened to me back in the days (purchased a 6-button pad and it did not work as expected). The solution I had found: Find a friend with a 3-button MD controller and offer him to swap it with the 6-button . In sheer financial terms, it was quite a bad deal for me, but at least after that (+ doing the rewiring that is mentioned in the Hired Guns manual) I had a pad that would work perfectly fine for most games and had 3 buttons for HG. |

Or just go to the bay and fetch one for cheap. I see a megadrive with 5 controllers and 17 games for five quid there now, with just a hour left. As an example on how cheap this is
