Australia LCD TV with RGB-SCART at Dick Smith

Hopefully this is in the right spot.

Long time lurker, first time poster

After months searching, I happened to stumble upon a Sanyo LCD22vt11dvd with SCART at Dick Smith on the weekend. Looking at the manual it supports 50/60HZ RGB over SCART. I think Big W sell the same display too.

I'm waiting for a new RGB->SCART Cable to try it out and will let you know.

Otherwise the composite input works fine with my A2000.

I wouldn't buy anything from Dick Smith, they charge an arm and a leg for it, Big W is a better option or Kmart.

And looking online DSE is cheaper that BigW, which is a bit of a shock.

More than a bit, but with the current economic state I reckon you could still play the two off against each other.

Still waiting for the SCART cable unfortunately. Anyone know how long gear from AmigaKit normally takes to reach AU?

Fantastic, the order was dispatched last Sunday, so shouldn't be too far away. Fingers crossed it works!

I bought one of those monitors yesterday.

I used a SCART cable from an old 1084 monitor, however, I had to modify the cable to make it work.

Pin 16 on the SCART connector has to be pulled up to +3v, otherwise the monitor will think you have composite video on the SCART cable.

Standard PAL and NTSC work, the unit does an excellent job of removing interlace flicker. The only other Amiga mode that works is Super 36. The 'double' modes of course, will work through the VGA connector.

My only criticism is that I think the monitor is a bit heavy on the anti-aliasing. The picture is not as sharp as I would like, though it is perfectly useable. The sharpness control does help a little bit.

It was $299 when I bought mine, so they might be able to drop the price in store.

Finally got my SCART cable last night. As mentioned earlier, I ordered this one from AmigaKit.

I think it looks fantastic (although I've only got composite to compare it to).

Some pics - the backlight looks weird in the photos, but is actually fine:
Let me know if you want more photos / for me to try something out. I'm still getting back to Amiga's though, so you might need to walk me through whatever you want to see on it.
