Where can I buy a good null-modem cable?

Whether it be in a shop and/or online, I really need to get myself one now. Any help on this if you can?

Also I wanna know what the bestest and safest way of doing Amiga-to-PC (and vice versa) transfers is. Catweasel? Transrom and Transdisk? Some Aminet utility? Something else? Please help!!!

Akira's little Amiga Transfer FAQ

Read here for a few options. I wouldn't pay 80 for a Catweasel, just to dump a few disks.

A null-modem cabel can be get in any computershop. Otherwise, make one yourself. It's easy, goes pin to pin. That's why it is called null, it's just an extension of yoru serial port, nothing else is doen in there.

I use TransADF, as you can read in my little FAQ. It is, to me, the best disk dumping/creating utility. And for transfers, TwinExpress.

Okay, I forgot to mention some other things...

...the only Amiga in my possession is my old Amiga 500 with no hard-drive, only one floppy disk drive, 1Mb Ram, Kickstart 1.3, etc. Is there any way of getting a transfer program onto that type of Amiga at all? Or is there an alternative? Where can it be found? Dammit, why am I so hopeless at this?

I noticed several computerstores when I was in London. A regular Serial Null Modem cable, also called Cross Cable or X-cable, can be obtained from any selfrespecting computerstore.

There is hope for your machine. Get your mitts on a terminal proggy for your Amiga, and transfer ADF Sender TErminal to it, from your PC. This proggy will write an ADF directly onto a disk, from a serial connection.

No HD needed. If you don't have enough space in the terminal program disk, transfer the proggy to the RAM drive. 1 meg should be enough.

Cool Disk transfers

Thought I'd restore this topic, Akira. Do you know whether PJ's TransADF utility is any good? Will it work for me and my old A500? I certainly hope so, at least.

PJ didn't do TransADF, he did WarTrans.

I have no clue how it is, never tried it. Methinks it's quite basic (and prolly done in basic?)... Better ask him yourself.

As I said, use ADF Sender Terminal... did you read the previous message? :P
