Looks like the available SCUMM compilers are quite POSIX oriented. You would not have a good time doing SCUMM development natively on an Amiga. Lucasarts used bigger computers too.

Ha, that is one of those things that semi-frustrate me about the Amiga, is whenever I am looking for a particular thing that would be in either those directories, I will enevitably always go into the incorrect one to find it. I would think that tools would be things for helping with other things (like Scout for information, or Snoopdos), whereas Utilities would be for things like editors or cd players. Or pretty much non-game software.

Most programs just merrily try to install in the second partition in their own folder, would be nice if we had an installer that would make it easier to keep a 'clean' hard drive. But I hate how Windows has become a random path of either having just the program name, or having the company name in the folder.

My arbitrary distinction is that "Tools" are used to work on something like a document (a text editor) or the file system (Dopus) while "Utilities" are used to view some data (Clock, SysInfo, ...).
Not sure if that rationale really holds up though

What is the purpose of the CPU libraries like 68020.library?
Are they overriding some CPU functionality or providing additional instructions?

The CPU libraries are there to deal with any incompatibilities that might arise from CPU-specific features, relative to the 68000. They offer a standard method of dealing with such things as CPU traps, which can occur when a CPU meets an instruction it can't deal with. In these sorts of cases, the library can offer a work-around instead of the system simply crashing. This method is used in the 68040.library and 68060.library files for replacing the missing FPU instructions that were present in the 68882, for example.

I have a question: what AmigaDOS instructions are placed in ROM? I mean - if you type "LoadWB" in a command line, it triesto load loadwb executable from a media you booted and it must be present there, otherwise you get "Unknown command" error message. But if you type "EndCLI", it always works. What other commands beside endcli come from ROM?

I understand that "Amiga World", the very first magazine dedicated to Amiga, lasted 106 issues. In the second-last issue (March 1995?), we got a glimpse of what would be covered for the next 3 months. Although April did come out, what happened to May and June?

Yes, my Amiga 3000 is named Kraki after a white Icelandic horse.

It has a name as machines on the network have a hostname. I am sloppier with naming these days, so only that A3000 and my G5 Mac Pro from 2003 are actually named, the rest are without names.

Been pretty slack here lately too. Just "Amiga" and "MiSTer" (and PS4, XBOX, etc), although my gaming PC is "ZOON" and has been for roughly 19 years now (Zoon = Fields of the Nefilim reference). Also had "Pinky" (client) & "Brain" (server), Bit (Phone) and Byte (Laptop) - from Tron, "Fry" and "Lela" and so it goes on...

Like I say, very lazy these days.
