X-Surf 3cc won't find any name servers

Bought myself an X-Surf3cc for the A2000, the other day.

It works - if not nicely, partially. It connects to the router and I can ping both the LAN and WAN, but that's about it. No DNS from the looks of it.

I've configured MiamiDX to the best of my knowledge, which by far isn't as bad as one might suspect, But none of the DNS-servers (correctly) listed Miami's database for DNS-severs is found.

I've also installed drivers and configuration files delivered with the X-Surf. I'm becoming very bitter here...

And the servers are set as active in the list?

Use OpenDNS ? Or your ISP's DNS?

The servers are active.

I've set the list accordingly:

DNS 1: Router

DNS 2: ISP DNS-server 1

DNS 3: ISP DNS-server 2

Edit: What might confuse things though, is that the Amiga is connected to a wireless router, which is bridged to the router connected to the WAN. It does however, as mentioned before, connect to both the LAN and the WAN - it's just incapable of finding the DNS-servers. (This setup have worked perfectly for me with a number of computers running Win98, WinXP, Linux and MacOS, so I doubt that would be the problem).

I know what your problem is i think from the looks of ypour comments.

Your router is not a dns but the default gateway
only your isp dns servers has to be in the dns list.
the default gateway you can enter that at the interfaces section of miamidx.
use static use static gateway type. and safe as default.

I wish. It's a logical conclusion on your behalf. But I fear I tried that route initally. No go, with or without the router in the list.

I know it doesn't help but I have an X-Surf and Miami DX using OpenDNS and they work together fine.

It worked without any complex setup (I am relatively thick when it comes to manual TCP/IP setup) connected direct via cable to my O2 Box II : a rebadged Thomson TG585v7 Wireless ADSL router.

My last router I had to allocated a fixed IP address to the Amiga in MiamiDX, add the router IP address for the gateway but the O2 box is working fine with MiamiDX default automatic settings (DHCP?)

Problem solved. I added a couple of external DNS-servers from DNSServerlist.org, and everything worked just fine.

Odd. But at least it works now.
