Decided to Shift my emu focus to the Amiga

I am huge emulation enthusiast who has tried to emulate almost everything but I have decided to concentrate on the Amiga although I have never owned one. The more I play with the emulated systems, the more I wish I would have got one rather that my 8088 CGA PC back in 89 when I was 16. These systems are so cool and I want to learn everything I can about them. I hope to become a huge enthusiast of the Amiga like I was of the PC in in the late 80s.

Thanks

Daven

you can still find some here and there. I keep watching local and picked up a 2000 last summer. I had a 500 around 1991 but later sold it after going to a 386. Always wished I had bought a 2000 with a bridgeboard. I finally setup FS-UAE with a 1.3 workbench setup like I used to use back then, starting to find all the software I used.
Basically until I can get the old 2000 working again I'm building the system I always wanted in fs-uae

My recommendation, if you want to pick up a physical computer, is to travel to a retrocomputer convention (the season's starting up soon). I started into Amigas last year by getting a working A1000 and genlock for about $50 at the VCF in Georgia, much much cheaper than it would have been off eBay, amibay, or even scouring craigslist for months.

Plus, they're just a fun environment to be at

Funny, I'm running FS-UAE on a Linux laptop as well.

I used WB 1.3 back when I had am Amiga and found this guide http://guide.abime.net/wb1.3/chap2.htm and followed it (even though its for some windows emulator it still works).
