Chaos Engine Speedball II ECS Vs AGA

Was it just me, but did anyone else find the upgraded colour palette on the AGA systems ugly compared to the original ECS versions.

Yeah Speedball 2 CD32 looks ugly as hell. I presumed speedball 2 came out on A1200 but ive just realised it was CD32 only

Yeah, I always preferred the colours of the non AGA versions. A lot more subtle.

Wonder if its possible to Change the graphics in the CD32 version of Chaos Engine back to the ECS, keeping the intro and CD sound etc.

Speedball II CD32 I found ugly at first sight.

CE AGA is more bearable. ECS version is perfectly fine. The "enhancements" of the AGA version have never struck me as horrible but I could also live without. Well, can't really make my mind .

I'll just quote you and pretend that I said that CE OCS is perfectly fine and the AGA version doesn't ruin it (like Speedball 2 CD32 does...). They decently used the colours to enhance the AGA version of CE while keeping the 'mood/atmosphere' of the graphics.

Yeah, Team 17 seemed to have had a better handle on the expanded capabilities of the AGA machines

ECS Version, just like Chaos Engine. The AGA version reminds me of too coloured Japanese console games.

The megadrive has the ECS version and Snes has the AGA version? With some subtle differences to the 'Hud'...

Yep, I agree.
Its like they added extra color just because they could, without trying to actually improve graphics quality.
Maybe trying to squeeze a few extra sales by releasing an "AGA version" and needed to have it look a little different to justify calling them AGA games.

nope you are wrong...they do not added extra colors
the original game is AGA and original graphics were done in 256 colors....they degraded the graphics to 32 colors to make the ECS version

The AGA palette of chaos engine is not ugly it have more colors and is vivid /strong colors....plus the AGA palette is the original one...read my previous reply to fishyfish
The original Amiga chipset is not capable of those vivid and strong colors but AGA yes

No, Im not wrong.
To be wrong I'd ave to have said it was the case. I didnt. I said "it's like".
Either way Im still sceptical that theyd have been making a game for aga before aga existed (development appears to stem back to '91).

Im almost tempted to say, "No, you're wrong", but I wont.

C.E.2 started out as AGA, C.E. 1, I strongly doubt it.
Incidently C.E.2 isnt 256 colors either.

Chaos Engine 1 is an original OCS/ECS game, the AGA release was a few month later.

I wonder where you get all those (wrong) information from?

I am absolutely certain that the game was being developed long before AGA was available so I see no way that could have been developed first...
