External Disk Drive Problems

I've bought three external disk drives for my 500 but none of them worked. Now I'm thinking that's not the problem. Every df1: shows up on the screen as "df1:Bad". What could be the problem?? Thanks!

The hard drive does not need to be named DH0. Use the name which is shown on the desktop.

Or enter

info

and see what the name of the hard drive is.

Could you make a photo of desktop when WorkBench is loaded?

Kickstart and Workbench 1.2 don't support Automount, AFAIK.
You have to mount your DH0: manually with the mount command from a valid Devs:mountlist which needs an entry for DH0: and all the parameters like the device, the unit, the filesystem etc.
