Later it is possible to edit the ini, but not before.
Are you running it as administrator or something? I can see all drives both in source and destination when clicking Browse.

If you can only see your local drives, it sounds like its running as another user (IE, run as administrator)..

I'll have to check those when time permits.. Never heard of anything similar.

And yes, I can do a full 3.0 pack next time. Personally, I keep a copy of the whole WHDLoad games/demos/AGA on a fileserver which I update against. When its time to get them on the amiga, I run a backup program on the amiga that only copies the changed files and removes files that should not be there. Takes no more then an hour over SMB (Network) since it only copies changed files.

Seems that it is not possible to copy "AceBallAGA", "AceBallAGAPL" & "Zool2AGA"
to my A1200 using a FAT32 formatted harddisk.

Really funny, AmigaDOS cannot read some files in these games and DOopus is copying the files, but with a wrong later not working size. Never seen something like this before.

The game WildWestWorld is German as far as I know, but I have to check.

I also have a complete backup of all games. But I just copy them again. It took almost a whole night, until I bought a new CF reader. Now it takes something like 2,5 hours.

How do you keep the savegames and highscores?

I don't. You're right in that that would be a problem if I played enough to care about save games =)

Turranius, we have a problem- your server only allows 20 people on at once. And I have a sneaking suspicion that people are hogging their places in the queue too!

Is there a mirror of this server? Besides, there has to be a better way to host these files in this day and age or is there something particular to FTP that is necessary to your setup?

I would personally recommend you Resilio Sync if at all possible although you writing your own update program is a very nice piece of work . This app would in a sense replace its job but it does have the advantage that there's no user cap and you only need to "seed" the files once for everyone to get them. Just be sure to lock it your end to prevent others from changing things, unless you are fine with selected people doing so of course.

Yeah there is a mirror. Check the first post: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633

I've been idle for a while now and kinda lost interrest at the moment, so we won't make any changes right now. We did discuss solutions to people hammering the FTP for days on end, but I can't be arsed at the moment. Just use the mirror =)

It does seem to have been getting worse though. I just changed so you can only login once per IP on the ftp account. It was 2 previously.

How are save games stored by WHDL? Do they have a generic filename or suffix to be detected? Then we could have some tool extracting them from the installation and adding them to future versions?

However, this should be done on Amiga. So we would need to detect save game files easily, e.g. by the file name. CRC'ing the full folder structure to detect changes is rather not an option.

Try here

Just found it on my Harddrive so it must be on the server somewhere.

Want me to send it to you?

I have a few questions about archive and info file (for slave) names. Is there some standardized way of adding suffixes to the game name? For example:
- language suffix is sometimes before AGA, sometimes after, and sometimes in the middle of the name (ChaosStrikesBack&DeUtil)
- Files/Image suffix is usually after the language suffix, but not always (DrakkhenFilesDe)
- some games have inconsistent naming (MiG29Fulcrum and Mig29SovietFighter, Kingpin and KingPin)
- megabyte suffix is sometimes 1m, sometimes 1mb, sometimes 1meg, similarly we have 512k and 512kb
- "the" is sometimes present in the directory name, but not in the info/slave name, and vice-versa (info/slave file has the same name as game directory in about 95% of cases, except when multiple slaves for a game exist)
- some games have whole year and it looks that they shouldn't (NewYearLemmings199192 -> 9192) EDIT: my bad, when game starts it is 1991/92... The readme is wrong.
- "demo" suffix for a game is usually at the end, but not always (OverlordDemoRowan)
- Xenon 2 CDTV info file is just Xenon2 (without CDTV)
- does the original version of Walker need to have "Crunched" at its name?

Sorry if all this is answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Also, it is very possible that naming convention isn't that important

And to add to pucci's post, it looks that Apache&OverdriveDemo = Apache.

Or maybe a data set using some Rom manager of sorts so you can see which you are missing and need to get or update... rather than grab the lot...

Does anyone still have the Windows EXE of the script Phluxx posted to strip out the foreign and lesser disk games? Appears the link is dead on his post.
