I have the original disks for garrison.

And I'm sure it worked on my A500 with the ram expansion.

No, I'm definate it did.

I'll soon be dumping all my games for CAPS, so if the whdload team want an mfm version I can only say yes.

Just need to get hold of a zip drive for my PC....

Garrison

WHDLoad version is underway.

Bizarrely wasteful MFM Protection system on disk two, its format is smaller than a normal DOS format?!?!?!

Yes, 4096 bytes per track. Probably the same with the format of another platform.

It's actually 4404 bytes per track (including Checksum longword) for Garrison but thats me being picky!

Being picky, eh...?

The data track structure is:

2 marks, byte A1 bit robbed.
1 ID word $FFFF
1 EDC, Xor32 on decoded data layer of area 3:

area 3:
1 Track ID long
4096 data bytes

The rest is don't care/fake.

That is 8216 bytes mfm encoded, or 4108 bytes.

I was talking about decoded data as used by the game!

On another note, have you checked out the MFM system for Nevermind/Psyclapse?

No matter what I do, the imaging process for this game is so goddamed slow!

I don't remember how the data is being used... but it is certainly encoded/recorded the way I wrote it
Some games seem to make some kind of sport of misrepresenting their real data structure.

Afair Nevermind is not dumped by anyone - caps guys feel free to correct me...

If it gets dumped I will take a look into the problem

This I like to see! I remember all those years ago when
I sent Bert 20 American I enquired whether someone was
planning an Install for Garrison.

I actually brought the game twice, a mate of mine took
it away one day after assuring me he could copy it
safely (why did I agree? :P) he returned a few days
later with a pirated version which I discovered no
longer allowed individual character representation if
I remember rightly.

Good luck with the install... I only managed to back
it up once with cyclone... because the second version
must have been slightly different.

Yikes! I'll be banned for spamming shortly if I don't
watch it, new and lippy!

*grin*

adios!
