Buying the game & or software no matter how good or bad helps support the developer.

Do the right thing and support the developers, There is another thing called trial software, Try for up to 30 days where this is Accetable & Applicable.

Just like back then the risk is the same backdoors in games & applications reporting ringing home to some remote server collecting information from your computer / network.

Pirated software in any shape or form is not good no matter how safe you think the source is or if your friends say oh its safe... Well let me tell you its not.
