Custom made arcade USB joystick

Hi,

Do you think this would be suitable for Amiga emulation under Linux? The seller tells me he could easily modify it to work with 8 way games.

It really stood out to me because most of these arcade controllers have a squillion buttons so totally overkill for mostly 1 button 16 bit games.

If its only 4 way with any luck it just needs the 4 way restrictor plate removed (at worst you might have to fabricate one to limit the range of motion (i.e so you cant apply too much force to the microswitches when its used 8 way)

Hard to say what has to be done and how tricky that will be without seeing its internals.

If it's only for Amiga games, then it seems fine. If there's a chance that you will later decide that you want to play arcade games with Mame, then you may want some extra buttons.

That's probably what the seller means by 'easy to modify'.

Yes, that was his intention. If you view the full description and then scroll to the Q&A section, it's covered there.

I'm not really fussed about Mame so I doubt I'd grow out of it so to speak.

It looks suitable, but I'm not so sure about the "Brand New Arcade Quality parts" since just a Sanwa joystick will be about the price of the whole Arcade stick which is using zippy parts for less than a quarter of that price. That doesn't mean those parts are poor quality, but I wouldn't expect too much.
