Kick ass software!

Click here for a full-sized screenshot.

Both emulators are actually frame for frame in sync, but one is lagging behind a smidgeon.

Mods..sorry to be an annoying prick, but this is an excellent thread and should not die. Anyway, will someoen answer me this:
I have Windows XP. I now can no longer run my fave old flight sims or my holy gaming grail, Panzer General. Will this virtual PC program let me run old DOS games? Can it emulate Win 95?

On average I can pull off 40FPS with WinUAE under a Virtual PC, and as for the sound, well it breaks up a lot. No support for (Direct)3D acceleration unfortunately. I'm gonna try playing a DVD later.

It sure can, Frederic! It's a fully feldged PC, you can install and run almost any OS you desire. This is part of my reason for installing Windows 98, I want to play old DOS based and Win9x games.

This is great! I can test (ad)(spy)ware, and even viruses while sharing my development environment without fear of endangering my host system!

I'm running this Operating System off my RAM drive - it's lightning fast, of course being only a temporary drive I must back it up often. I use WinRAR for this purpose, and Windows 98 can be compressed down to a mere 90MB!

I dusted off my Northgate Omnikey /102 keyboard and braught my 486/160 dos box to my room. Funny I just got done playing Panzer general from start to french campaign.. great game.

I would get really pissed running an emulator that crackled. I will be trying virtual PC 5 on my g3 upgraded 8500 mac sometime in the coming week after I reformat it and instal os 9.1. Just to test it out.

Does the amiga emulator run best on a powermac or a pc? I want to start playing the cd32 games I have downloaded.

In theory Windows XP through Virtual PC should be equally stable on on any machine.

As a side note, this reads like MS purchased the Virtual PC products from Connectix rather then the actual company. But please if I'm reading this wrong, let me know

I do have this program and must admit I liked it, however after the disaster with win95, the terribleness of Win ME and the crap that XP causes my PC I think I will just stick with Good Old Windows 98SE.

Unless we all fall backwards and they decide to bring back DOS

Pitty they can't make a virtual Emulator proggy, one that combines all calsses of old retro machines

Interesting thread. This is how I do to play the good old games on the PC. Im running a secondary harddrive on my Linux computer. With VMWare I am able to run mostly all DOS games I have missed in fullscreen from that harddrive. Nice and elegant.
If I want to add games I just do that from the Linux side after mounting the DOS-harddrive.

MacOnLinux is not an emulator and only runs on Linux/PPC unfortunately. I'll give it a try once the AmigaOne G4 is available.
